I played drums as a kid, we used to cover Nirvana songs. I joined the army at 16 and never played the drums again, sold them. I watched the Taylor Hawkins tribute gig from Wembley on TV. Next day, I went into Glasgow (I'm Scottish) and spent £7.500 on a brand new Pearl drum kit. Thank you Dave Grohl, and thanks to Taylor, you reinspired me again man. God bless you.

During the lockdown in 2020, I spent the nights, dark to dawn, watching music videos, often just wherever KZbin took me. Often the classic rock that evokes the memories and has been most of life’s soundtrack. I was raising kids when Nirvana dropped, and while I was aware of them the music didn’t resonate with me then. It does today. When Kurt died, and Foo Fighters were born, my kids were old enough that Foo Fighters was prominent in their playlists. Again, at first, Foo Fighters didn’t resonate. But then American Pie and East Great Falls landed in our home, and suddenly Times Like These clicked. And I started listening to Foo Fighters with the kids. And some others, too, but these guys, as musicians, and performers and artists, have gotten into my blood. So back to the lockdown. I found this video one night and fell in love with it. I’ve been to a lot of concerts, love the crowd energy, and I don’t know how many people were in the largest concert audience I was ever in, but it wasn’t anywhere near the number that’s in this video, and I had those moments when I wondered: will we ever see that again? I got a lot of energy, a lot of hope, and lived many good memories watching this video then. And it’s almost two years later, I’ve gone back to it a few times. I love watching Dave play to the crowd, but I really love watching Taylor on the drum kit. Energy, emotion, impeccable timing and beat, and he shows he’s having a blast. I look for him in every Foo Fighters video, and listen for him in every song. I’ve seen many fantastic, iconic drummers play, and I know millions of other folks have also seen and heard fantastic drummers. And I won’t say Taylor was the GOAT, I’m not qualified to judge that. But I do say, nobody I ever saw or heard was more fun to watch and hear than Taylor, and I’m stunningly sad I never got to experience his art in person. Today, Taylor Hawkins l, I thank you, and my hat is off to you.

I'm a video tech and was blessed to have toured with these guys in '18. They are fantastic musicians and they absolutely love to perform. All stadium shows. No warm up or opening act. Just the Foo Fighters playing rock and roll for three and a half hours. I am sure they miss touring as we all do. Here's to David and all the guys who pour their heart and soul out on stage for our enjoyment. We can't wait to see you again. Live, with a rabid crowd and a full rig

On the whole I agree with your assertion, however. Tears are a response to deep emotional stimulus with the exception of irritants. Tears of joy or sadness. Music can bring people together but simultaneously cause annoyance in others. Church bells on a Sunday morning when recovering from a hangover. Curse those bloody bells! Or the muslim call to prayer; strangely hypnotic to the point of convincing the worshippers that killing other people, especially other muslims and everyone else is a good thing to do, coz God told 'em it's a good idea. I was 17 when I went to Reading in 2012. It was a fantastic weekend with some crazy talented bands, because Glasto wasn’t on that year so the likes of the Cure, Kasabian, Coheed, The Black Keys, Paramore and all sorts were there. This set however, last band on the Sunday night, main stage. Wow, this blew me away. This song though, to this day, this song that we’re all watching right now, has stayed with me since. After the show, people were chanting Foo tunes as we made our way back to the campsite. I’ve had ups and downs since, but I come back here once in a while and remind myself that this is what life is all about. Friends, music and a good fucking time. I’ll never forget it.

An awesome man doing an awesome job at something he obviously loves to do. I can think of no other profession that must be so enjoyable and gratifying as a truly gifted musician and songwriter. To see people deeply touched by your music... Wether it's remembering good times or sad memories about a lost love. I think music is so much a part of people in many ways. We are blessed to have or to have had the Dave Grohl's, and Chris Cornell's etc... I remember a long time ago in the mid seventies seeing an interview with Ronnie Van Zant and he was on his little Bass Boat fishing when a News Reporter asked him why he does what he does. He said "To see thousands of people get up and put their hands together for a song that you wrote, to me that's what it's all about. That's what makes me keep coming back". Music is therapy for the soul. It makes you feel.

Okay I found a guy who gets it. I am 52 and Grohl is simply a beast in the industry. He is what we all wish we could be... but yet he is very human and he makes it clear his success has nothing to do with talent... it has everything to do with WORK. Dave worked his ass off his entire life to be where he is today. I want to shake his hand

Hip Chick - you don’t need that in life, just being right here right now in this era of time when these bands and songs existed is more then what most people got in life. Be so happy.

Noel Gallagher was once asked, what is the most thrilling moment of being famous, and he replied, When a stadium full of fans, sings lyrics that you have written. Fact.

I once had such a relationship with my kids and I would give my life to have it back. Line of communication destroyed and I am certainly as unhappy as my most unhappy kid. I've listened to your book at least a dozen times and hope beyond hope I find my way back where I belong.❤
