For those of you complaining about the girl: The guy didn't bother discussing with her ahead of time if she wanted to get married or was ready to. He took the risk to ask her out in public and make a spectacle of himself. He asked her in a food court, which is frankly one of the most unromantic places even if you met there. I dont understand how this can happen to anyone, to be honest. No guy should assume that his girlfriend wants to marry him, nor should any girl assume that her boyfriend wants to marry her. If you are not communicating your thoughts and plans about your relationship with your significant other, then its your own fault when you hit the wall running with such schemes. And to be perfectly frank, if you're not communicating about something as simple as where your relationship is headed, you shouldn't be getting married anyway.

To this day, I still don't understand the fcking lure of marriage proposals. Look how corny and cheesy it looks when you get down on your knee and say "Will you marry me?" Couldn't she just have said yes and then later told the guy when everyone had gone that she didn't really want to marry him? It's a heartbreaking experience for both. I speak from experience... it doesn't make her a bad person, it makes her REAL. The last thing you want to do is say yes to a huge decision you aren't sure about or know is not for you. It's HARD and many say yes just for complacency or because its easier than saying "no". Honestly, they are better off. A marriage should be two people who WANT it. Even though its a horrible experience, the BEST thing to have happen is to be honest with eachother. Who wants a marriage without 100% commitment to spend the rest of your life with someone? It hurts now... but the best thing she could have done for that man was not accept it without truly wanting it. It's a blessing in disguise even if it doesnt feel that way...
