As a dry nation, Egypt relies mainly on the Nile Water and partially on ground water for irrigation. With a limited share of the Nile and mostly non-renewable groundwater, the country is moving quickly to develop its irrigation systems which would save water and increase productivity of its. cultivated lands.

@@tikvstok6584 that true cooperation and develop will make two country better But dam will move us to war choice that we didn't want to happen .

@@samehmekawy1049 we can cooperate on the dam too, we want the water to turn the turbine to generate electricity and leave. the dam doesn't affect Egypt rather helps egypt. on the war, we don't need war no countries benefit from war. if you start the war we willn't watch standing, every ethiopian will unite to defend and kill every enemy. if you came peacefully we will welcome you happily, if you came aggresively we know how to repel that too. war, migration, famine, poverty & unrest isn't new to us we live it. you can't threaten us.

irrigation+rainfall = evaporation + transpiration + runoff + leaching Which one of these processes do Farmers really have control over during the growing season? If you have the ability to irrigate your sandy soils and water is cheap and plentiful, then you are fortunate and have some control on the left side of the equation. If you do not have irrigation, you must look at the factors on the right side of the equation to see what can be controlled or minimized to benefit your crop. Evaporation from the soil surface can be reduced with mulch or leaving crop residue on the soil surface. Transpiration is a function of the plant leaf surface area and the weather. Runoff is or should be minimal in sandy textured soils with high percolation rates. This leaves the leaching of water out of the root zone as the #1 controllable loss of moisture to your crop. Interrupting the downward movement of moisture in your soil by installing a "smart" barrier can greatly reduce the leaching of water and nutrients. SWRT subsurface membranes detain/retain up to 90% of irrigation or rainfall in the root zone for crop use by disrupting the gravitational movement of water in the soil while still allowing excess water to percolate and do not create anaerobic soil conditions.

The fact that you have a strong local production will trigger an exportation. Local crops shouldn't be sidelined for cash crop, it can definitely flow along with it and export can be generated from that

That is what Egypt is trying to do Ethiopians not to use the water so we need all African country to support Ethiopia so that she can sustain and feed our people and to be a resource full to other African countries as well.we demand Egypt to stop threatening and harassing Ethiopia Again we urge all Africans to stand with Ethiopia to use her water resources we are not taking their share OK but at least they owe Ethiopia 100 years of compensation because Egypt is the biggest water resources user of Nile of Ethiopia 86% supply and 0% user right now.

Ethiopia provides 85% Nile’s of water but receives Zero. Egypt has received the lion’s share. It is time Ethiopia uses its fair share of water that originates from its own land. -About 60% of Ethiopians don’t have access to electricity. Egypt has 100% electric access. © Sisay Alemayehu
