It's very comforting to know there are other people with the same issues, I'm the same with vinegar, onions, meat etc etc I'm a nightmare and have now stopped accepting eating invitations. A couple of weeks ago I thought I was safe ordering a tofu burger with field mushrooms instead of the bun, a side order of fried halloumi cheese and absolutely nothing else. It came beautifully presented with the halloumi slices balanced on top of coleslaw, I couldn't eat a thing because it was "contaminated" haha, everyone thought I was mad!

I'd be EXACTLY the same re the coleslaw! Eurgh! The rest sounds lovely. The amount of times I've ordered something and it comes along with coleslaw or mayonnaise (i eat that now but only if small amount) or pickle or some such other yucky thing that wasn't on the menu. Annoying for us food weirdos lol. x

Really interesting. I have food addiction and eat way too much of everything. I do find it really interesting how tastes differ between people, how some can love something and others hate, not just food, but all sorts, music etc. It's great that you have more confidence to like what you like. It is crazy to force views on another, though I am often too heavy handed with the chilli flakes, much to the annoyance of family.

I was very similar growing up and my parents tried very much to force me to eat things rather than encourage, I would be left sitting at the table in tears after everyone else had finished trying to eat stuff and physically gagging. It just made things so much harder. I refused to try anything foreign, could only eat white chicken if it had any brown meat on it I couldn’t eat it. It took meeting my husband at 19 before things got better as he was much more encouraging and gentle about it, (sounds very similar to Kev) he also used to be vegetarian so is quite fussy too. We as a family only eat chicken and occasionally beef. I encourage my kids to try food and yes it can be frustrating when they don’t like food you’ve cooked but I will never try to force them to eat anything...I think as adults we’re more comfortable trying stuff. As an aside, I was also very skinny as a teenager and gradually put weight on after meeting my husband, lol. I also suffer social anxiety as does my daughter (sadly) and eating in front of people can also be hard.

Our stories are SO similar! Thank goodness for good men lol. I was also skinny, too skinny, and also have social anxiety even now. Glad to hear we all found our way in the end. xx

My grandaughter who is 12 has to have her food not touching each other, then she eats each group of food never mixing them! which i find strange but she freaks out if you don't do it that way.
