I'm sorry to hear you were sick over thanksgiving, that can't have been easy to manage. I hope you are feeling better now. Here in New Zealand we are just coming into summer and the garden is PUMPING! So I am flat out running my dehydrator and bottling things to make the most of our own harvest. I have more berries in the freezer than I can keep up with, but it keeps us in jams etc all year round. I am quickly learning though that you can never have enough big jars to store all your preserves in, it adds up so quickly! Heck I am even looking at minor alterations in my house so I can build a space to store it all in because the cupboards are getting pretty full hahaha.

Hi Jeni! Great preserving everything you got and I didn’t get any turkey bones this year because my mother made the turkey, but I got a turkey in the freezer and when I cook it I can make broth and can it. Have a very blessed day!

Glad you are feeling better. I have made big stock pot of chili and soup and froze. I am new to canning but would it be better to can than freeze?

Either way is fine, I can but I freeze a lot as well!

What do you use your canned butternut squash for? Mine is so mushy.

You can use them in place of sweet potatoes or pumpkin to make a pie. I also use them pureed in soups to thicken the broth and give a richer tasting stock.

I use it when I make pumpkin bread, pumpkin muffins etc.
