The shortages aren't for lack of water. They're engineered. The food and other products you buy now will cost more in the future. Stocking up is insurance against supply disruptions and inflation. Don't be caught unprepared again. And check out Ice Age Farmer on KZbin.

I live in the USA. Love seeing how people in other countries are feeling the same as we are here in the USA. Thanks for the thoughts!

HELLO from MONTANA USA. The weather is sweltering here. Our crops are NOT getting enough moisture. Montana is famous for Wheat and Pulse crops. The wheat crop is estimated to be 33% of normal right now, and this is before the grasshopper plague eats as much as possible. The pulse crop may be worse. If people worldwide expect the USA to be the breadbasket of the world and export what is grown, they will be mistaken. We may not have enough food to feed the USA.

On March 13th 2020, they announced lockdowns in our country and declared a state of emergency. In the time I left work and drove 15 minutes across town, the store was COMPLETELY empty. No food, no water, no medicine. Literally took 15 minutes and people were having verbal altercations over cleaning supplies and stuff like that. It’s was an experience I will never forget. No bread, no milk, no cans, no frozen food. Everything was just gone.

My mom actually got angry for buying extra food to stock up because she says we don’t have enough room to store it, which of course is ridiculous. She also got mad at me for buying extra water because my dad had trouble carrying it in from the car. She said,”it almost killed him”.

I mainly stock up on dried beans that are very cheap, last forever and are a good source of protein.

My stash got a little depleted when the pandemic started and there was shortages of everything. It was a valuable experience. I know more what I need now instead of what I want.

You should also store some sprouting seeds such as mung bean for bean shoots I've had some for around 15-20 years and they still grow they just need a jar and water and don't need light

It's true. I'm Canadian and just recently the temperature was 45 Celsius here. It was hotter here then India. We had a lot of heat related deaths

Having grown up in rural America, and had roads blocked by several feet of snow for weeks at a time. I'm very used to the idea of keeping a few months supply of food on hand the year round! Even in our small city home we keep 4 to 6 months supply of food on hand ALL THE TIME!
