I tried this recipe earlier today, marinated overnight. I didn't like it. 1. The onion and garlic were overpowering and left a strange aftertaste. Had to mask the taste with the rice. 2. It wasn't sweet, the apple juice didn't add any flavor to it. It's definitely no substitute for brown sugar. Overall impression: 2/5

@@randomguitarchannel1878 You can substitute apple and a bit of pineapple juice for Korean pear.

4 hours my ass... you want at least 24 hours, if not 36 hours. Don't use apple juice.... grate your pear and add brown sugar. Don't cut corners..... P.S. always ad ginger but use it sparingly. Last, use either "toasted" sesame seeds or just the oil but never both. Heads up, the oil is potent so use sparingly and adjust to taste (remember marinades are strong to begin with because they take time),

Eh bruddah go easy yeah? Every family does it differently. 4 hours is fine. And I agree with your other suggestions too but the toasted sesame seeds are great with chopped green onions as a garnish too. Option: Allow to chill uncovered in the fridge for 4 hours (up to a day) Then DEEP-FRY Let me know what you think!
