So I just tried this recipe, even though it's not halloween. I used sweet potato instead of pumpkin, I'd never baked anything with yeast in it before, and I had Chef John on loop beside me the whole time (enough that my flatmates came in and just started listening to the video because they liked the delivery so much). Somehow, I have made the most amazing cinnamon rolls! Thanks so much for such a fantastic tutorial that even someone like me can follow.

Help, I used margarine instead of butter when coating the dough. It's been 2 years, 4 months, and 4 days since Chef John started haunting my dreams. I can't sleep. When I do, he's there, giving something the ol' tappa tappa. Please rescue me from this nightmare. And don't be a fool and use margarine like I did.
@Nutty1518 жыл бұрын
Just sprinkle a pinch of Cayenne Pepper powder on your pillow before going to sleep, that should help ;)
@2ShOoTer78 жыл бұрын
as long as he's not giving YOU the oooool' tappa tappa, you'll be fine. Just make him go away with Cayenne.

Great idea! It seems too time consuming to buy a pumpkin just to cut it open, fish around for the seeds and take the insides out just to do this.
@TheMento987 жыл бұрын
FanfareT.Loudest You're so adorable oh my goodness, you don't have to buy a pumpkin silly. You can go to your local supermarket (Albertson's, Smith's, Walmart, etc.) and buy pumpkin pureé! You just got to look near the canned goods. Possibly canned vegetables.

Good tip, Add the butter to the sugar and cinnamon mix (it should have the same consistency of runny ketchup) it makes it a lot more moist and easier to spread ^^

We had a place here in Missouri at the Lake of the Ozarks that used to make cinnamon rolls as big as that plate! They were awesome, but definitely a two...sometimes three...day ordeal. And I always save the center of any cinnamon roll for last. For some reason I think it's the best part of the whole thing.

Totally making these in the fall for my mom who loves pumpkin :D Since you're into fun cooking, and since this recipe gave me flashbacks of working at Cinnabon during high school, I thought I'd share. If you wanna inject a bit of extra fun, use room temperature butter once your dough is rolled out and FLING it at the dough, then just spread it with a spatula. We used to jump up and spike it lol...yes, we were dorks :P But LOVE your videos!!!!! Thanks so much for making these :)

Yes you can. You have to knead the dough on a floured surface until it looks the way the dough in the video looked. Try finding a video in which kneading yeast dough by hand is shown. You have to get air into the dough.

So I went and veganize this recipe, because I am the supreme lord master of my own pumpkin cinnamon rolls, haha xP I just had to replace some of the ingredients (instead of butter I used vegetable oil and instead of milk and heavy cream I used coconut milk). Sure, it probably do not taste like Chef John's but it still turned out pretty great. I love watching these videos, it is so inspirational!
