I think Miko was the other non audition (got recruited from what I remember). Given the clips of Miko I've seen of her before HL, Yagoo (or whoever advised him) are geniuses, seeing these diamonds in the rough.

@@lordofrims While Fubuki and Miosha discovered and referred Okakoro irl, Okayu went through the interview phase (and got admitted on the same day). She was also asked if she could refer someone, she also referred Korone. Korone didn't go through any interview because she was referred 3x already.

I'd say aside from Coco, Korone is the next biggest reason for the english speaking world to jump into hololive/vtubers. On top of her innate talents, she learned some english, she did some English only streams, she's a big westaboo, but along side all that, she always was welcoming AND always tries to include her overseas fans.

Before coco, Korone was doing a pretty solid job including her overseas viewers in her streams before oversea viewers became the norm. "Hey guys~" became a phrase most JP membs used to test if they even HAD oversea viewers. She's very open minded and is so welcoming to anyone in her streams. When she streams, it's like shes grabbing her viewers hands, and having them join her. She seriously fills out the "Virtual Idol" checkboxes, and deserves that label. Hell, did you guys SEE those cartwheels?

There is no doubt that Coco's achievements in promoting Hololive overseas are great. However, I think that Korone was definitely the one who conveyed the appeal of VTubers without using language. Each of them invaded the world in different ways.

Honestly the one that pointed the vtuber rabbit hole for me was Pekora, that video in Minecraft pranking other holomembers with her Halloween Pumpkin trap house with the snowmen.. But the one that dragged me down deeper was Ko'one, her monkey laughs, sudden random sound making, when she hears a sound in a video game she automatically mimics it, just to name a few reasons. 😊

Korone was also my gateway into HL. For me it was TURTLE HOUSE and some Poly Bridge/Bridge Constructor game that I kept seeing clips from on Twitter, then Miko's GTA and lava clips sealed the deal for me. It was Korone's Doom stream that hooked me. I don't think it's an amazing coincidence how many English speakers were introduced to hololive by her, since she plays so many western games (not that others don't play western games, of course, but Korone seems to play the biggest variety of them, along with maybe Miko). Show a westerner an adorable cartoon dog girl playing Doom in Japanese (except when she yells "CHAINSAW! CHAINSAW!" in delightfully excited English), and dare them to turn it off.

Korone got me too. I think the first vtuber I ever saw or heard about was Ironmouse, and she can sing beautifully but I never had too much interest in watching much beyond that. But youtube recommended some korone clips and wow, she is just so funny and charismatic it is insane. These days my oshi is Fauna, but Korone was my first. Korone might even still be my number 1 if I spoke Japanese, but as it stands I can only watch translated clips of her.

Since I'm old school I fell into the rabbit hole thanks to Mikocchi but her classical colllabs PekoMiko Wars and, particularly, Mikkorone lead me to this Great Doggo. So at that point I got 4 oshis Miko, Pekora, Aki and Korone. Finally I realized my Kami-oshi was Mumei all this time, so the circle is closed because I found out that Mumei is so similar to Korone, both are wholesomely weird and alyaays got dark pop culture references. That attracts me a lot
