Not only did I have trouble finding the original CD this song was on, I finally downloaded it. I'd worn the album out to bad to record it and I wanted the whole thing. Then trying to learn it was a whole other joy to deal with. No accurate tab I could find. I had the basic chords but I didn't want to get sick of it trying to learn it. So thanks for your trouble in doing it and even putting a nice video together, and yes I can easily tell you are actually playing it. I mean that in a good way. There's a little difference in tone, reverb, etc. from what I can tell just seeing it once. Good job. I did the "like" thing and subscribed. It's the least I could do. Really

Really nice breakdown of this great Elvin Bishop song. You do such a good job of showing how it should be done. It would be nice if you could tell us about your set-up . There's no way I could duplicate your tone with my set up, and I have a nice PRS amp and a Telecaster with humbuckers and coil tap options ( plus around 30 effects pedals ) . I always thought Bishop used a synthesizer for the intro.

+MarksGuitarLounge Hey there! Yes, you are a great player a because you have a great ear and I learned this song when I was 15 years old and giggin and it was my ear that made me a natural without ready tabs and such. I can hear by your lesson and how you played it that you have the same gift as I. I did get into music theory in high school but it is my ear that always wins over, that was a long long time ago now and I play the guitar for my own enjoyment and gig out very rarely with respect to invitations from bands who call me out when they're giggin. Remember, play it with felling! peace out! Kato

@MarksGuitarLounge5 жыл бұрын
Sorry it took me this long to reply This guitar is nice but It is not IMO a grate guitar, Go with the SG I have 2 SG's and That is the way to go. This Ibanez has been dumped to the retirement ben after most all of the Fret markers fell out. That's right they started falling out at the same time about year 3.

Great video! I found this song from listening to the Winery Dogs version. If you use Courier New font, it's a lot better for reading tabs. It makes each character take up the same amount of space so everything will be aligned more accurately.

Mickey was Elvin's backup singer at the time this record was recorded. Elvin didn't want the tune on the record, but his producer talked him into it. Elvin didn't think his voice was right for the tune, so he asked Mickey to sing it. ...You can thank the producer and Elvin for giving Mickey the limelight he deserved, but to say Elvin got the credit makes no sense: it's his song. And yes, Mickey knocked out out of the park!!! I can't think of anyone better suited to sing this. : ) I think this is one of the best bluesy pop songs ever. Definitely one of the tastiest guitar leads on a hit song, IMO.

OUTSTANDING set-up, demonstration and ear on the elvin Bishop song---GREAT SOLO COPY!!! Thanks so much for giving as much detail as you have. I have no equipment but a Boss GT6 Bass pedal for a Fender Precision Bass--hardly what I need to replicate what you've provided here. I've never ventured into the effects guitar world. Thinking to buy a Gibson 2015 Les Paul--fingers not prepared so its going to be a while before I can play it plus the neck is so much flatter than I remember the old Les Paul Gibson of the 60's era. I'm looking into a Guild / Les Paul type acoustic electric. How can I get in contact with you by phone? Need help with equipment purchases and set-up. Would like lessons and willing to pay. Please advise. Thank you. JR Cyberpastor@FB

JR Cyberpastor Thanks for your wonderful words and I am so happy you like what I did with this. It's without a doubt one of my all time favorite songs. I think you should buy whatever gives you the Most JOY when you play it. Try out some guitars at a guitar shop first, Don't base your purchase on looks but the Joy the Guitar gives you when you play it. Always listen to you gut reaction when and after you play it. If you have great joy when you play it, you will always come back to it. Nothing worse then a guitar you don't get any joy from. Gear is such a big diverse field you just need to start educating yourself on it and that's not easy to do. I'm a Huge Line6 fan and knew nothing about it when I got my first unit. I got so upset thinking I was never going to understand it, But hard work and diving into it over and over helped me get the hang of it. I don't know where your from but If you were close to me I would say just come on over and we will play and have fun NO CHARGE. I'm not the teacher kind of guy for making money from someone so please forgive me I put out free lessons like this and that's what gives me JOY. I WISH KZbin was around when I was a kid. This is my small way to pay it forward for God's gift of Guitar Fun he put inside of me.

MarksGuitarLounge Turn down the recording so we can hear "You", play. I'm no Randy Rhodes on the guitar but, I swear your fingerings, and chord changes are lagging the true artist , just a wee bit. One last ? You ever take that axe on the road,cause it sure is shiny? I don't see any real,road wear on it.

Ease up Jon Mark offers a great FREE help and service. Matters little to me whether he is a road warrior...more important he is trying to help guitarists...not staking a claim as 'the man'. I enjoy what he is willing to share.

Jon Starr I welcome all comments I'm NOT the best guitar player and I know it but I do not agree with you on the volume of my Guitar in this video. What you here is me you can make out the recorded guitar of Elvin Bishop in the back ground I made sure my guitar was louder. If you don't believe me that's okay I made this for other guitar players that want to learn the song as I did. I do not go on the road because I have no need to. I have a great job and it pays my bills so I play Guitar for fun and the joy I get from it. Be cool Jon Jam out and have fun. I'm cool with what you said and it's okay if you don't believe me. I make my videos like this, 1 Play and record the song 1st 2 play it again with the Camera on recording the video part. I make sure I play it the same way both times. I over dub the 2 recorded guitar tracks to the video one on the right one one the left. My video software lets me line up the video to the the played note at the time it is struck to sink each together. When it converts it to upload to KZbin's format this is where my video gets downgraded from great quality to good quality IMO. I have to try to do a better job at this part of the game but It gets the job done for me. Thanks for commenting Jon Starr. Love your last name.
