The slime blocks had 3 flaws: 1. sneak to take fall damage and not bounce. Isn't this well known? 2. easily breakable. 3. he probably had enough height to avoid the slime entirely I'm just surprised it took that long though. Just wait a minute after Doni intervenes and quickly just build up and take fall damage once he's probably gone. If he saves you, just keep doing it but wait slightly longer each time. That's what I would've done. If He gave me slow fall or something I'd just do something else repeatedly, like suffocate myself in sand/gravel or drowning. I almost feel like everyone was on at a different time and Doni was watching all of them the whole time, and just making it look like he wasn't, but either way I don't really care (much), its still good content!
