Rafa now takes risks with his second serve. He hits it faster at an average Speed of 163 kmh. He has more double faults now but he remarkably wins more points with his second serve. This shortens the point and overall shortens the distance he needs to run over the course of the whole match. Very good strategy

En la final de Wimbledon del 2008 jugó con anestesia en el pié. Alguna vez a comentado que el partido se alargaba y alargaba y que temió que la anestesia se pasará, pero la palabra "imposible" no está en su vocabulario.

Great commentary on Rafas foot condition. With his playing style many experts thought he would not have a lengthy career. It is always difficult to measure the heart of an athlete, Rafa has more spirit and heart than anyone. His nickname should be”Grande Corazon”

@@antoniosarmientoluna6497 Those athletes play team sports. They could have off days and their teammates could carry them. Plus, they have far longer off-season. Nadal played an individual sport with a disability and the sport has barely a month off. He has to perform at a peak level year in and year out in order to achieve what he's achieved. I'd say Nadal stands tall.

Exactly. He was not sliding on his backhand side.. his left foot. Not sure.. but if that is why he is slicing his BH so much so he does not have to climb on those top spin BH on his left foot. Will it work in RG. He was burnt by that against Nole slicing when Nole pulled him out on the BH with the short angle rightie FH. In any case if Rafa can beat Medvidev in AO, on a one-one sport, in RG he is going to be mighty tough to beat if he can manage his foot issues.

Thanks for this great and informative video! The picture of him holding the trophy next to the picture of him in crutches months earlier is really just a testament to the fighting spirit of Rafa. Always giving 100% to perform the best of his ability regardless of all of the challenges he’s faced throughout his career. I’ve been using a machine called BEMER to increase the blood flow throughout the body. It helps me a lot. You can also have it target a specific part of the body like your foot. I wonder if someone could mention this to him. Maybe it would help with his foot.

Rafa is amazing for winning another hard court grand slam and doing so against an in form Menvedev is astonishing to me. I think 2022 will see him with 2+ majors this year. I thought Rafa could come back, but during the grass/clay season and continue to do well on softer surfaces. I think he should decrease the amount of hard court tournaments he plays in, but he likes playing full seasons. I will guess 26 slams. I think most will come on clay. That is at least 1 a year until he is 39 if he wins 22 at RG. He could prove me so wrong and be in a place to win all 4 this year. I am speechless by his performance in the AO final. 2 sets down and at his age with all the health problems....amazing. Go Rafa!

👉 3 more GS for Rafa👍, people really shouldn't be betting heavily against him. AO 2022 will be a lesson not to. 99.9% Tennis fans and Pundits/Presenters did not believe he could win the Final. I was in the 1% who believed he could win the Final. 20 GS and overnight think is not the favourite to win a tournament, would be very Naive. So when he won I was very happy and Emotional.

99,9% is exaggerated... He had 2.55 odds on betting, though. I didn't think for a second he could beat Daniil (because I was already incredibly satisfied with his road until finals), but he even proved the AI wrong as in the 3rd set he was having only 4% chances of winning. 😁

Rafa against Meddy in the final first set playing like the old Rafa, while last sets he played more all court and aggressively coming into the net. He did change his play style and won it. Rafa is still very much a physical player, against lesser opponents he can play his old style more demanding on his body and against players that he can overpower with his lefty forehand, he needed his more aggressive net approach to win the match.

Do you think he will be able to play few more years or at one point his foot would suddenly collapse and its done? And last question... with his foot problem (muller-weis) he favours his condition to play many events or the opossite its best to have long rests and playing just selected tournaments? Thank you very much in advanve

If Rafa gets to the final at RG, he’s extra-tough to beat. Lucky for Novak to meet him in the semi in ‘21. I think if Novak gets to play the French, they’ll be in opposite halves, and could meet in the final. Rafa will have the momentum of winning AO this year as well. But how these players manage the clay season will also be a factor. Maybe Tsitsi or Zverev could make a deep run on clay this year. The tennis world is ready to see some new guys win I think, but the fans at AO were Rafa-centric.

I think he will take one more RG and will have a shot at US OPEN too, but there it's much more complicated because of Zverev, Medvedev, Djokovic. He had to play only 1 of them at AO, although you can say that Shapo beat Zverev fair and square and deserved that match up with Nadal. And call me crazy, but I doubt Nadal would sign up for Wimbledon, especially if he is going deep into RG. I think Wimbledon is basically reserved for Djokovic cause there is no one else able to challenge him there. Not one of the next or current gens know how to play on grass properly. Of course, we assume here that Djokovic will participate, cause we never know with Novax :)))

@@yellowdeucetennis we wrote Rafa off in AO 22. He himself dint give himself a chance until the finals. But fought and won in true Rafa style. Totally agree with you. If he plays like he has no chance in wimbledon, and if the weather stays warm and things align like in AO, never write a champion who fights till the end on any surface. When he lost to Nole and Roger in wimbledon, he lost more than Roger and Nole winning (No disrespect to either.. but if u saw the matches you know he did not play his best for whatever reason). In a one on one sport AFTER this AO 2022, at their level (look at the mess that zverev is.. lol), there is anyone who is stronger mentally than Nole (Rafa fan here). Wish he would get some lefty serve bot like say a Rusedski in his camp and start serving like 2009 USO again. That with aggessive game in wimbledon... he will be a REAL threat in Wimbledon.

@@kartkan I think Rafa's serve has improved already. In this AO he did first serves with 195 kmph. I don't think I ever saw him serve like that before. Although in the final not a lot of his first serves were that fast, for whatever reason. Maybe that's why Medvedev always broke back when Rafa had the advantage. That second set should have been his with that 5-3 advantage

I would recommend Rafa just take off the entire american hard court spring schedule and come back for the clay season if i was advising him. What do you think ? Although I'm a big Nadal fan, both Nadal and Federer are past their prime. That's why the AO win was so impressive. I think he still has a great chance to win another French Open, I don't see Rafa winning any more Grand Slams afterwards. Djokovic is now at his prime, provided he stays injury free. Then you also have Medvedev, Thiem, Tsisipas, Zverev emerging. The days of the Big Three are numbered.
