I reckon it's the Oakleigh Drive-In on Old Dandenong Road. The trees look familiar, and there are quarries less than a km down the road near Heatherton Road. In this clip the red Charger at the start is a new VJ, and later on it's the older VH.

More power to you for uploading Alvin.....was certainly part of the era. But, have to be honest, as some who was around at the time and was trying to support local movies.... they were amongst THE worst, absolute ( dare I say it ?) bottom end Australian films of the "New Wave" era.....Australia's answer to the English "Carry on" movies. Utterly silly, juvenile stuff. Along with Barry McKenzie , Alvin was just SO bad ( cue attack commenters).
@AdamFordGhostships3 жыл бұрын
You're 100% correct. This movie and the Bazza Mckenzie films have aged VERY badly, and trhat's because there was absolutely zero substance to them, and you really can't say that about most of Barry Humphries' stuff. It always amazed me that a man of his obvious intellect would ever have stooped that low. But, $$$$$$ ....
@retrothingz3 жыл бұрын
@@AdamFordGhostships Agreed Adam. The alleged humour was so heavy handed.... As you say ...so unlike Barry's very clever, intellectual wit. We did a number of very good films in the '70s but our attempts at cinematic comedy fell flat. Not taking anything away from the star of "Alvin". He could only do the best with what he had.....namely a totally unfunny script.

The Ford Falcon is a bit of a hybrid, the cars an early XK or XL with a 64 Falcon XM front guards and grille, yep that’s the Oakleigh South drive in down Clayton way as some of the chase is around the Clayton area with that International Lodestar agitator coming out of the cement plant there, just an aside the 770 Charger would blow the doors off that Peugeot, Wolseley and Falcon with ease ! Coincidentally I've been to a few functions at a couple of other Ermin creations - Fisherman's Pier Geelong and Melrose Reception Centre Tullamarine (I live in the area and when Melrose was being built the locals called it the Grass Castle as rumour had it that it was financed by the Griffith mafia).
