For Americans watching Dresden are in the third division of German football
@SavalatteКүн бұрын
I'm curious why do you say this ? Are there tons of Americans that doubt this or something?
@dylanmcdonald9925Күн бұрын
@Savalatte It's the equivalent to a G-league team getting 30,000 fans, which just doesn't happen
@SavalatteКүн бұрын
@dylanmcdonald9925 (I had no clue what the G-league was- had to look it up.) But my point was why did you specify Americans? I've seen lots of Europeans brag about their crowds and history to Americans so I'm wondering if there is some kind of perception that American sports have sparse attendance or they're all new or something?
@dylanmcdonald9925Күн бұрын
@Savalatte typically fans in America aren't as passionate about their sports clubs. Especially with "smaller clubs" or clubs in lower divisions
@SavalatteКүн бұрын
@dylanmcdonald9925 Well most people would define "smaller" as being less popular by definition. I would argue that amateur/lower division sports like college football (and to some extent basketball) being so similar to professional sports should totally disprove the idea that Americans lack passion for "lower division"/amateur sports right there. We don't have foreigners helping us here so it's only through American fans that these sports are possible and we occasionally have old rivalries, crowds, and fanfare with HIGH SCHOOL sports. As far as American lacking passion, I profoundly disagree. I don't think American fans or sports are perfect but they are more to my liking than what I know of European (or world) soccer. We simply have different taste. Obviously it would take time to discuss the reasons but to be honest I don't think most foreigners really care about that. They just want to hate on Americans and don't care whether we have "passion" for our sports or not. Foreign soccer fans are the only ones I see that constantly hate on completely different SPORTS for no reason.

Back in the 90' italians were the creziest. In a match the fans were able to bring a scooter to the tribune e throw it down the first ring. But after that some people died the ultras in italy got a lot of restriction luclky. Every match was a war. Before during and after the match even some policeman died. But now is way more calm the situacion. Now SERBIAN greece and turkish are the creziest. A lot of player said that the maracana of belgrade is the scariest stadium.

I do agree that most American fans aren't as passionate about their sports in the way that people in Europe are about football however it is also harder to compare them for an example some of the examples from Europe that were used were celebrating goals whereas only one or two of the college football clips was a celebrating a play and in one case it was Bama away fans at the Texas home game, its also interesting to note that the American clips were all (except for one) from University sports which is a really cool and unique thing about American sports is how we get so hyped about our colleges. So while overall i think that European fans are better than American fans I think that American fans still have a really cool and unique fan culture
@fergusthefish046 күн бұрын
Oh and also this may be incorrect but what I have seen a lot about European soccer is how much cheaper the tickets are compared to American sports so i think its important to note that a lot of American sports you dont get the best of the fanbases going to the games because a large portion of the diehard fans aren't able to afford tickets

@@DoenerKritiker oh sorry my mistake I saw a few ones with a like goal graffic up but i realize now a lot of them arent, but yeah it sucks it costs around $80 which is about 76 euros to go to a NBA game where I live and that was one game out of 86 games in the season so its almost not worth it to go anymore with how expensive it is (that ticket was at basically the highest seat in the arena so nosebleeds)

It's not a question of passion for sport, the passion in America or in Europe is identical, it's a very old discourse that concerns belonging to colors or to a city, something that in Europe has distant roots. In Europe stadium fans have very distant roots that go beyond sport. We talk about "clashes" between very ancient cities, where even today they are things that are very much felt by the people, and that are part of the European culture. In other parts of the world these historical conditions do not exist.
@SavalatteКүн бұрын
Europe has distant roots? Almost all popular sports began in the late 19th/early 20th century. You get this in the U.S., Canada, Australia, etc. The idea that Barcelona vs. Real Madrid somehow goes back to the medieval era is silly.

@@FootballEuropaTrue, the biggest football clubs in Europa are also getting to commercial. Many season ticket holders sell day tickets to tourists for big bucks so they make profit on their season ticket. @@FootballEuropa So now you soccer fans are coming for college football? An amateur sport that is not a franchise, has no owner, cannot be relocated, and don't wear ads on their jerseys. This sport has a lot of history, culture, community support, and most of the fans are local. You know you're really scrapping the bottom of the barrel here by pretending they are competiting against soccer.
