You can’t be a head coach if you don’t have full control of the team down to the scheme and philosophy. State is a run first team on offense with a complementary 4-3 physical defense that will get 3 & outs consistently and force FGs in the red zone with bend but don’t break type of defense. Adjust the schemes and get to work.

First rule of all levels of competition is to respect your opponet. Still after being beat at all phases of the game: Offense, Defense and Special Teams; Toledo was more physical, dominated both lines of scrimmage, created turnovers; exectuted on all downs made big plays; he has yet to give them credit for a game well coached and played. Wont get better like that! T.O.L...

@@js290 No the problem with the scheme is you have to have the DL especially at NT to command double teams. 4-3 suits the players on this team and allows you to stop the run without having to load the box and play coverage with LBers. 4-3 helped produce winning seasons for State and I’m not going to overlook what works in the SEC. Base DL needs to be : DE- DT - NT - DE

We need more players, but the defense looked so lost all game and we could do nothing to stop Toledo. TOLEDO! They beat us up in the trenches and their QB trucked our LB. After saying all that, it’s still early and we have a chance to bounce back against Florida, who is also bad. I at least want a competitive game. We need some keys guys back. And we gotta play wit that DAWG MENTALITY!!!

@jaygremillion2 ай бұрын
This was inexcusable. I questioned this hire when it was made and it looks even more questionable now. It would be one thing is Georgia or Texas does that do us...but Toledo? C'mon. If there is a gap like that between us an Toledo we might need to go ahead and forfeit a few games this year. I'm not a fan of the hot seat question, one way or the other, but the fear of "changing coaches too quickly could crush a program" is valid but so is the idea that we could wait too long and let it get worse and worse. I've seen people say he'll get three years regardless. What does that mean? Regardless? What if we win one game this year and one game next year. Does he get a third year? What if we win 2 games and zero next year? Does he get a third year? We fired Moorhead for program culture issues and we are hearing rumbles about questions with the program now. This was, easily, the most embarrassing loss in the last 25 years if not EVER. This is lower than Maine. When there is only 30k people at the Florida game I sure as hell hope no coach, player, or anybody associated with the program questions the fans. I, for one, will not make a three hour drive there and back to see THAT. And no fan should be expected to. So, if we have to give a new coach at least 2 or 3 years than understand that fans may wait to see where it goes from here...because we spend too much money to come over from hours away to see THAT. (And then add to the fact that the school makes it harder to enjoy tailgating on campus...) Every player (save our punter) should be ashamed and every coach should be embarrassed. And I keep hearing "the worst is yet to come." That is scary...

I’m just throwing this out there what if Lebby hired Art briles as an assistant coach to help get us turned around??? He was found innocent and his case was dropped in 2023.. It’s not like he would be the face of our program but he’s a very good coach and honestly would help our program..I’ve always believed in second chances especially when the person is found innocent and zero evidence against them doing anything wrong..Idk but rn we could use whatever help we can get.. I’d support art being apart of our squad everyone makes mistakes..If there was evidence proving he covered the stuff at baylor i’d never suggest that but they dropped the case because they had zero evidence that he knew about it..
@jaygremillion2 ай бұрын
Nah. He wasn't found innocent. They couldn't prove beyond a reasonable doubt he was involved. But as the HC that is a pretty startling discovery. For all of THAT to go down under your watch and you are clueless. Nah, Lebby's connection to Briles and Baylor is also one of the reasons I wasn't wanted him to be hired. There is a big difference between proving something happened, not being able to prove it and being found "not guilty," and actually being found innocent. It is similar to Paterno at PSU. In the end, they should have known. But Lebby is here. And isn't going anywhere. It is scary how lost he and his staff appear and just how far behind the roster is. I get the notion of not changing a coach to quickly and too often but I don't get the "he gets 3 years no matter what" mentality.
