I have to disagree. Tactically less worked or was viable. It's not quite as bad as the year where gegenpress was an auto win. Defensive tactics, low blcoks, standing off were not viable at all. So 24 was not a diverse game. The AI transfers while improved was still janky and annoying. It became easier to just meet whatever the AI asking price was and it was harder to sell players for more than what the generated value was. I'm happy to skip a year when it's a good game that I'm enjoying. I stopped playing FM24 months and months ago and probably got less hours in than in previous titles.

Realistically they should’ve started making this game 3-4 years ago alongside the games being made at the time. 7 million sales, over £20 million in sales every year , a couple of extra creators to focus on this game for years wouldn’t have broken the bank. FM 25 will probably be like Championship Manager 4 - will have some issues and be really rough around the edges. Then FM 26 will be more polished and complete like what CM 03/04 was and will just carry on improving with each version. Doing what they are doing is a tremendous task at hand and they started it 2 years ago if I recall. Management games are great, because you can skip them for a year and I believe there will be beta/demo coming out before the game full release, so you can always decide whether to buy the game or not. Vizeh - I am absolutely gutted by what I have seen so far (or lack thereof) for FM25 and its future. One thing is absolutely apparent, they're aiming for more of the casual game base because thats where the money is. Us 'grognards' - the players who've been in the spreadsheet simulator since the early 2010s are fading out of their scopes.
@MrM2309-w3w2 ай бұрын
Hit the nail on the head. What made the game unique for me was the attention to detail needed, but more recent releases, and the clear direction the game has now headed towards, is resulting in a management game moving away from trying to produce as realistic a management sim as possible. I mean, now with them permanently removing shouts, there is no longer any way you can influence a game throughout the 90 minutes. it will become who has the best / broken tactic simulator. Communicating with your players is integral to man management, and i can't believe they've permanently removed it, rather than try to improve it, if they were not content with how it had functioned. So I've quit the series as FM will now only go downhill and given EA FC a try this year, and if they play their cards right they can attract FM players that aren't satisfied with the new lack of depth the game will now have. Even though it's strictly not a full out management sim, now FM no longer has depth, it's not so unique anymore. And the fact I can actually hands on make an impact on the game in EA FC by playing the match in a style that complements the roles they've introduced in the new tactical creation on FC, is actually really good. Hopefully EA continue to develop this further, because that's become my new game since FM is no longer a realistic management sim. Best decision I have made moving to EA FC this year.

Now they’re seemingly removing quite a lot of core features and it feels like that is being done to appeal to the LARGE amount of people who try it and are intimidated by it
@MrM2309-w3w2 ай бұрын
@@vermilion7843 Well, it felt for me the significant shift was after FM23. That game was designed to be their most realistic / challenging engine. But, many players found it too hard, to the point they were not enjoying the game and refused to then play it. So follows FM24, where all you need to do is gegenpress to win with minimum effort. I took Standard Liege to a UCL quad my third season in an online game. That shouldn't really be happening. With SIs objective quite clear in looking to attract a newer and younger generation over different platforms, they can't really go in the in depth realistic direction, because it will put all those players off - hence, the changes and simplified version they are pushing forward with. Perhaps in several years time once they have secured that younger player base, they may then want the game to be more challenging - of which they may then look to go again in a direction to make the game a bit more realistic and challenging. But at this point in time, I don't see that happening anytime soon.

For the last 20 years or so, each game's update on the previous hasn't warranted me forking out the cash to buy it every year, so I buy it every 2 years instead, as the number of updates over a 2 year period make it a bit more worth it. They've had 2 years of having the majority of their dev staff working on the unity version of he game, FM24 was light on new features because of this. If the game isn't ready for an open beta 2 weeks before release, it isn't unlikely to be truly fit for release on the 26th. Another 2 weeks is not going to be a difference maker in this situation and I anticipate a lot of bugs. Also, if it's effectively a year long beta, they shouldn't be charging full release prices.

I haven’t bought it for years. I went back and played FM 2005 and 09 and they were superior in design aesthetic and they felt better. The flaw in their game design is the CA and PA aspects, you can’t really get players like Michu at Swansea who blossom later in their careers because these two mechanisms aren’t fluid enough. It feels too regimental, too stiff and not like real football. It’s good fun, it’s as close as you can get to feeling like a football manager and living in a ‘snow globe’ like sandbox world of football and I love it for that… BUT they need to sit down and rethink everything because they’ve been pumping out game after game that’s quite similar for years.

Hell, even drop a paid DLC for women’s football with the current match engine. Don’t completely gut the game and shoot yourself in the foot and blame it on a new engine… Like, 05:29 - are they seriously implying they’re going to be using Unity in 2045? That’s hilarious. Actually mindblowing that a company which is usually transparent with their audience like SI can just bungle together an announcement that reads like it was made by ChatGPT as well. Hate to make the comparison, but can you imagine if EA just removed a couple modes from FC26 and blamed it on an engine? It wouldn’t be acceptable for them, so why should it be for SI? Really tired of this indie company gimmick they’ve been running with for the last few years when they make more than enough money.

I think with me, I got bored by the amount of time it takes to get to matches and all that extra detail. I do/have played Football Manager since FM6. At the time I was still playing Championship Manager 97/98, but switched to FM. After playing hundreds of hours, I decided to try Championship Manager 01/02 and it feels better as it only takes just over an hour to do a season. The team management side on Football Manager is really long winded and it has amazing detail, but getting from match to match is like 10-15 minute intervals, constantly pressing 'CONTINUE'. CM97/98 after MANY years of playing it on/off from 1998-2022, it had been a fond memory, but lacked a few advancements that I like in the Football Manager series, but wanted an in-between/upgrade to the interface and so a year on from CM97/98 and Football Manager 2018-19, I'd found what I was looking for. Forget Championship Manager 3, that game is a mistake, lol.

As long as they only apply the new engine aspects to the in-game graphics, I don't feel that we have that much to worry about. The minimum requirements are still really low, so I'm guessing that they didn't do a complete overhaul. Also, as long as the off-field stuff is pretty much the same, we're still going to love it. They should sort out the realism. 2017 was the last time I played. I was getting results like 7-4, 6-3, 5-4. This doesn't happen in real life It's like 2-0, 1-0, 3-1. I had a striker who scored 55 goals in 38 games. This doesn't happen in real life. I remember another match where there were 4 penalties in a single match. It's been broken for years and it seems like they are more interested in introducing womens football and removing International Management. I also took AFC Telford from non league to League 1. Won league 2 and my players were the lowest paid in the whole league. The game is coded so no matter how crap your team is you will still be there for promotion. Instead of bringing in womens football bring in the lower tiers of English Football instead. I guarantee people would love this more.

I can already see that people are going to hate this game, no matter how good it ends up being. And I bet 90% of the hate will just be, "Oh, look how bad this one screen in the game is. 1/10 bring back the old FM." Even if, in the end, it's the best FM of all time, it's most likely going to have mostly negative reviews on Steam. It happened with another game recently called Hunt Showdown. It's an extraction shooter and was loved by the community. They switched the engine, added new content, fixed bugs, improved audio, new guns, but in the end, everyone hated it because the UI was clunky. And guess what? It's going to be the same with FM, just loads of undeserved hate that is going to drive new players away, which will just cost us a game we love. And in the end, we will have no one to blame except ourselves. Instead of welcoming new players and letting them enjoy the game we love, we will drive them away and kill the game we love.
