My grandpa was a high ranking military official in El Salvador during the time of the war. I'm not sure exactly how it happened, but he ended up being stationed in Honduras and got like 15 Honduran women pregnant. So we have A LOOOOOOT of family in Honduras we have never met. Edit August 2020: Hey guys! So seeing the reaction I got from this, I asked my great Auntie what the deal was with my grandfather and why he got so many confirmed women pregnant (yes, there's potentially more!) I learned that at the time my grandfather spent a lot of time in Honduras with Salvadoran settlers. At the time that the war happened, there has been a rumor around the villages that El Salvador was on the brink of becoming a US state, and it was thought that any children fathered by Salvadoran men or born to Salvadoran women would be automatic citizens. This of course, was a lie, but that didn't stop droves of beautiful young Honduran women throwing themselves at an officer. The hope was that if their children had citizenship, the mothers would somehow find a way into the country legally as well. Update September 2022: Hey everyone. In the last year I've done a fair bit of travel to Honduras and El Salvador, and I've been able to meet 3 families in Honduras that are made up of descendants of my grandfather. They reside in the Yoro and Valle departments. It's been wonderful getting to know my family, and although I've tried to get them to do a video diary with me, most of them aren't interested in doing it and are very shy. So I'll keep trying, maybe next year when I go back. Most of them are very sweet and have embraced me and they have a great sense of humor about the whole thing. I'll update this post if anything cool happens.

@thesummergamer They did had kinda of reasons, before the attack on Poland, Czechoslovakia was a target of Hitler, Britain and France got involved in it mainly because of How they didn't wanted the great war, so they set up a meeting in Munich, and had Hitler Sign a piece of paper which stated that Hitler calm downs. But Hitler still invaded after the Munich agreement. Second reason was hostility for The Jewish.

Perhaps learn some history then... there are clear situations where one must go to war for the greater good (like the Union to end slavery - seems like there's a winner there no?)

@Zekedia222 it is good that the allies won but if you think about it germany was just expanding their territory in the east but france and the uk declared war for no reason just like what the us did on this war

To be fair "Those are our citizens, stop bullying them" and "We really don't have enough land for the citizens already here plus these ones to live and thrive on" are both perfectly legitimate moral reasons not to want the El Salvadorian immigrants evicted

My grandparents lived in Ocotepeque, really close the border with El Salvador, during this war. My grandpa's family ran away to other Deparment but his father sent him, his brother and an employee to get their cows that were left in Ocotepeque. When they arrived and found the cows, the employee said he wanted to see if he could get something from the business that were abandoned. After a long wait, he didn't returned so my grandpa and his brother came back without him. The employee was captured by the Salvadorian army in the middle of the town and he was sent to jail in El Salvador. He was sent back to Honduras later, and was able to return home like 4 years after the war ended. Moral of the story, don't steal.

The Football War of 1969: Belligerents: El-Salvador Vs Honduras Winner: USA
Cappacho! Жыл бұрын
@Razgriz 914 it’s a mix of both actually. Esp in the case of Guatemala. The 10 years before the PBSuccess coup are referred to as the “10 years of spring” mostly because a lot of Guatemalans had hope that their government at the time could take care of them. After the coup, the country spiraled into a civil war that didn’t end until the 90’s with each leader being more brutal than the last. Not so sure about Mexico but Central America’s problems stem from both incompetent colonial governments that have struggled to find a good way to govern themselves since their existence and intervention from foreign powers

@Channel Name Tbh calling it soccer is not as bad as it sounds to me. Considering that Americans call 'american football' football that does keep it simple. I just wish that they didn't make it so annoyingly complex
Channel Name Жыл бұрын
@Alex Hamer I don't disagree, I think the world's a better place if everyone spoke the same way (in their respective languages), but the word is interesting BECAUSE people speak differently, even if they speak the same language. I find both words to be legitimate ways of referring to the sport, maybe I just think people have a harsher opinion on the word "Soccer" because it's associated with American culture, and it goes against the grain of European football. We've seen the backlash on Twitter and the internet when the European Super League was announced and promptly disbanded, we've seen the anti-American comments regarding it, and the "they're turning football into soccer" comments.

@theoutlook55 You're kind of right. It started because of the accession of a new sultan that Britain didn't like, and as stated ended 38-45 minutes later when the leader fled to a German embassy. There was fighting though, 500 of the sultan's forces were killed and a single British sailor was wounded
