Life long catalan Barça fan here, I think this is a revolution in our playstyle that hasn't been seen since Cruyff times. Cruyff was the one that cemented the "ADN Barça" of Total Football that later Guardiola perfected. Now the ADN Barça is being changed and reformed by Flick, the base is still the same (always offensive and possession oriented) but now with much more counter pression, risks and dieect football, and less sideways passes.

As a big fan since 2008, the last time a barca team was this dominant was without a doubt circa 2015. The MSN trident was peak, playing direct, simple, complex and beautifully. Just look at their highlights on their champions winning season, Newmar being world class all games and displaying both jogo bonito and being deadly, Suarez being clinical nutmegin and putting the ball top corner in the same play. And messi somehow still being the best of them all. That was peak. Probably something we won't see again, until now, maybe. Something interesting I saw a few days ago was an interesting post that said that barca best attacking trios always have a brazilian, a number 9 and a La Masia kid. In this order it showed (Ronaldinho, Eto and Messi. Neymar, Suarez and Messi. And now it's Raphina, Lewandowski and Yamal)

Barca fan here and we‘ve never really been as direct, it‘s the element Flick has newly introduced. It happened sometimes under Xavi but as part of a defensive minded team. Much more important question: When did I last feel we had this kind of feel around the team and their play? I‘d say 2015 probably. We look like a european powerhouse again. Probably also the first time since then we have arguably the best team in the world - on form rn only though, i have lived through too much dispair to trust this fully atp, but this week surely helped, definetely the best in a loooong time.

Saying Madrid collapsed diminishes the masterstroke Flick pulled with the substitution at half-time. Fermin spent the first half trying to make daring runs into space (good attribute, but not right for this match up), leaving only Pedri and Casado to take care of a 4-man Madrid midfield with fresh legs. They were overrun. Thank God for the immaculate execution of the offside trap. Flick responded by bringing on Frankie. Frankie and Casado paired up to give stability to the base of the midfield, allowing the defence line to beat the first press and unleashing Pedri to push forward and make babies with the entire Madrid midfield. Once that problem was fixed, piercing passes could be laid into the 3 guys making runs up top. The rest is history.
