Terry there are 8 teams vying for 4 spots - City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Villa, Spurs, Chelsea, Man Utd, Newcastle - where Chelsea had success during the Abramovich era it was predicated on them being the richest team in the league and being able to outspend everyone multiple times over, they then built a loan army so they could keep funding their outsized spending even after FFP was introduced. Those advantages are now gone, Boehly & Co. saw to that by tearing down everything Abramovich had built and spending every drop of money they were allowed to spend under PSR, all to build a team of unknown kids with a new long term manager every 6 months. Chelsea aren't special, they've never been special, they had a special owner at the right time. Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal have been around competing for a century, Villa have more history, City are the incumbent, Newcastle are the upstarts and new money team, and Spurs despite all the banter worthy stuff have the best stadium in the country that will be printing money for the next 50 years while Stamford Bridge continues to rust. Chelsea need to be winning NOW, or at the very least qualifying for CL because every season they miss out is another season where they forecasted £70m+ revenue that they won't be getting, which is why they've been selling assets to themselves. It isn't about hating Chelsea it's about respecting what all the other teams are doing and the strength of their projects and history. Someone has to win and someone has to lose, 4 of these teams will get CL qualification and 4 won't but only 1 team is spending far beyond their limits and risking a massive PSR nightmare in 2-3 years time.
