Archaeologists have recently uncovered ancient human footprints beneath the windswept landscape of White Sands National Park in New Mexico that date to as far back as 23,000 years. That makes these footprints the earliest unequivocal evidence for human habitation in the Americas, pushing back our understanding of the date of arrival by as much as 10,000 years. The history-shaking find also helps to validate Native American claims of a deep time connection to this continent, and could forever alter our theories about the peopling of the Americas.

I love science and history. The wonder and fascination of connecting to the past is deeply moving. Noticing the thumbprint on an ancient Chinese pottery left by the artist preserved as fresh as it was first made thousands of years ago was a great experience for me. Uncovering these prints must be quite profound for these scientists. Thanks for sharing this amazing discovery!

@Gary Allen As more and more facts are gathered, most prior assumptions and theories fall like ten pins. Ancient DNA has blown away much of European early "history" and the casual assumptions of "who I am and who we are". "Germans" are really "Russians" who were once "Greeks" and "Palestinians" who most likely walked out of "Africa". Virtually all of the real early Europeans died off and our DNA isn't their DNA yet a strong Neanderthal component remains. Our "history" must be redone from scratch and simply await more facts.

Now you know why 'science' is, and should be, questioned. People view data and artifacts and formulate. The problem is that when you question, they get defensive. When people questioned Clovis, this happened. Many archeologists posited that people roamed North America even earlier. Now we know that was accurate.

Lt Dan - science has always been a series of challenges - it is never settled - that's what Thomas Kuhn meant by "paradigm shift"' - scientists come up with a sensible idea (eg "clovis barrier") - it becomes the paradigm - newer discoveries challenge it - until the proof for those new ideas is substantial enuf to overturn the paradigm (eg "radiocarbon dating of white sands footprints") - and the consensus shifts to the new idea - - fact is - the clovis barrier had been unsettled for a long time - in 2011 a survey of anthropologists revealed that most no longer considered the clovis barrier as the paradigm - but it's taken 10 years to back up that conviction with concrete evidence

Reminds me of my favourite evangelical Christian parable about a man going to Heaven and reviewing his life with God. In one part he sees where he walked with God along a beach and he could see two sets of footprints. Then in one part of the beach it becomes rough and rocky and he sees only one set of footprints. He turns to God and says “ Why did you leave me just when the going got rough?” God says to him “ That’s where I carried you.”

This year is my 43rd archery season and I am known in my area as a good tracker. I'd like to comment on the tracks of the woman carrying a child. I'd have to see them but i can say that the purpose for her hurrying is at the final destination or else she would have walked back. If the sloth stopped at her track shortly after running into them then she was hurrying to make it back before dark. A sloth wouldn't cross that dangerous area during the day. I don't think the woman wanted to cross at night, because she could not use our most important sense (sight) for defense. This is why turkeys go to the fields during a rain. Because rain nullifies their hearing. They need sight more than ever. By the way, I would bet that the sloth walked into the wind, which is common for a prey around many predators. My 2 cents on the populating of America hasn't changed. Coastal people did it with boats not long after Australia. I never bought into the Bering straight. If Marco Polo can go so far in a lifetime, why couldn't other humans?

🤔 In my expert opinion, there are 2 logical theories of the age of the Earth and human history. They are: 1). Science tells us that the universe is 14 billion years old, and the earliest human migration to North America was 23,000 - 26,000 years ago. 2). The Bible tells us the Earth is just over 6,000 years old, the age of the entire universe is much older, approximately 6,000 years + 1 day(because God created the universe first, then created Earth the next day)... So, the REAL answer is somewhere between those 2

There is no evidence that the descendants of the humans that made those prints survived to present day. There is no evidence yet of continuous habitation of the Americas from then to later times. For all we know they died off with the mega fauna of the day. It is possible that the people living here when the Europeans discovered the Americas were descendants of later population events. It is entirely possible that the Americas where peopled multiple times, and then those earlier population suffered extinction in the western hemisphere. Continuity needs to be proven.

The Bible tells us about what happened and why there are so many animals found petrified...Those footprints are from 4,600 years ago probably a very short time before the world wide flood. At that time, the North American landscape was connected to Europe and Africa, and after the crust was broken open to let the water flood the earth, there was fast, vast movement of the plates which the land masses sit on ,and they split apart and moved to where they are located today. There are no processes going on today that can explain the mountains being so tall, or so many animals being buried under hundreds of feet of sediment.

Previous to that, it was widely held that the first humans lived in Africa between 1-2 million years ago. Evolutionists kicked and screamed at the idea that they were wrong and their timelines were massively inflated due to assumptions and inference rather than observed evidence. Subsequent genetic studies have shown that Mesopotamia is the Cradle of Civilization, and that from there sprang all 3 people groups and languages, all just over 4,000 years ago. I do find it interesting with all the challenges to Ethnic Identities... that Clovis and now Pre-Clovis are being identified as "Indian" when we have zero documented proof of where they may have originated... we currently "understand" that the modern Indian cultures were derived from the Asian Peoples who supposedly came across the Bearing Land Bridge to settle North America... but where did the Toltec, Maya and Aztec, or the Peruvian Cultures come from? There is speculation that "other" cultures made it to various locations in the New World, and why do some of the Toltec statues have African type facial features? It's hard not to "speculate" as human's want answers and have great imaginations... but personally I don't care for "scientific speculation" 23,000 years after the fact with no actual "facts" to base them on.

@@freemind.. I look at it as one of the stupidest things I did in this life. It was about 4-inches (plus) long and I always thought it was a spear point because it was about the size of iron spearpoints I'd seen. I was living on a farm in Pa. and swinging on a wooden plank swing between the barn and the house and my eyes just 'focused' on it laying there in the yard. I'd looked for arrowheads (there were lots of them to be found in this area) but never found any myself. Everybody else but me seemed to find them. Anyway, there it was! And I just picked it up. I ended up trading it for a "glow in the dark" military thing that another kid had. That turned out to be radioactive and had been stolen from a warehouse at Fort Indiantown Gap, so there was some state police involvement that came about, too. Anyway, when it was all said and done, I was out the 'radioactive reflector thing' and my Clovis knife (or, spear point) whatever it was. The reason I didn't think it was 'special' at the time, was because it just didn't look like the other arrowheads and stuff the other farm kids were finding in their freshly plowed (and then rained on) fields. It wasn't until about 40 years later that I stumbled onto a picture that looked just like my 'spear point' and it was from the Clovis People. My luck, I guess. But, here's yet another 'oddity.' I bought some meteorites at a farm sale about a year ago and -- as they were being auctioned -- it was announced that they came from "this farm down yonder..." And they were pointing at my farm! So, somewhere, I have a bed of meteorites -- if I ever find them! There are a couple of other 'mysteries' here, too. I'll be posting them on my channel as I get them filmed.

I had no idea who the Clovis People were until about 6 years ago, and I'm convinced they were not only the first inhabitants of North America, but that they were Pre-Flood people who were erupted out by the biblical deluge of Noah's time. If you're not a believer, it is STILL an incredible archaeological find, and if you DO believe in the Flood, it only adds to the significance! Either way, their arrowheads and spearheads were considerably more advanced than those of modern native Indians.

@@freemind.. Yes, to a degree the Google Earth photos work pretty good. But, remember, this is a farm, so much of it has been tilled, flattened and smoothed down to a depth of about a foot. The best times (and ways) I've found for trying to "read" the land, has been by airplane, a few weeks afte the frost kills down the tree leaves and grass. There are a number of sudden drops (like an ancient waterfall) and karsts in this area and limestone caves are scattered here and there. I've also been able to track down a couple of the finders of the meteorites and got pretty good (and consistent) locations of where these folks found them. It is an area about the size of two football fields and is currently in grass (for hay) as it's been for about 20 years. I'm debating whether to sacrifice a few bales of hay and plow up that area. But, there are two other areas of the farm that hold great mystery to me. One is an ancient ditch that was dug -- about 7 feet deep by 10 feet wide and probably 300 to 400 yards long that was already in existence on the farm in the 1930s when a man I talked to lived there. He said it was an "old work" even back then and was a mystery as to why someone would have gone to all that effort. I've found that the ditch stopped when the diggers hit a spring and tried to dam up the water intrusion without much success. The other area is adjacent and comprises about 25 acres of "bottom land" that used to be an ancient river bed. I've found some rather interesting stuff there, but never made too much effort to dig it. During a major flood in 1972, most of the topsoil had been scoured off by the flood waters and I'm told that a lot of Native American artifacts were found there. So, I've sort of got my own "Oak Island" treasure ditch, a meteorite area and a huge alluvial deposit of God only knows what. In addition, this place was one of the original pioneer farms, so there is probably a lot of metal detecting that could be done, too. Those were some of the things I wanted to make videos about as I found the time to do them.

If you want to really know about human development, then spend some money on excavations in India. The stone age came to India 50000 years ago , a good 40000 years before anywhere else. By 15000 years ago, human development was much advanced and it was iron/bronze age. The first writings and use of pens like tools started. What science developed in the ADs, was already known and the temple decoration and statuettes , carvings clearly show it. But you do not want to know it due to strange notions and ethnic hates ingrained. Left to India today, it will take atleast 50 years for India to spare the money for bringing it to light. Human knowledge will be poorer for it . Atleast two to three generations for certain.
