Snapdown , especially if you already have the overhook is a great entry from there to the darce.

I have a very little judo base. Now I train muay thai and jiu jitsu and it comes handy as hell. Muay thai takedowns are basically the same as judo takedowns but you can't turn your hips on your opponent. I feel like I know what I can do with someone's weight distribution to sweep him or to force the sweep. Don't focus on one martial art if you don't to. Absorb what you find useful in every martial art that you enjoy practicing until you stop enjoying it.

It's the lowest effort takedown. Low risk high reward! I'm trying to get really good at them.
@DEBO510 ай бұрын
Absolutely! It takes a lot of practice and it’s harder to land on someone in a low grappling stance (much easier to catch someone in a Muay Thai stance).
@CaleCoast10 ай бұрын
@@DEBO5 I like to chain two or three together, catch them off balance from the first attempt. Favorite is off collar sleeve. Big step to the sleeve grip side, turn the wheel pulling down on the collar, block their foot
@DEBO510 ай бұрын
@@CaleCoast yea definitely easier with the gi, I only train no gi so I’m more into single legs, double legs and more importantly Russian ties and arm drags (Greco Roman stuff)
@CaleCoast10 ай бұрын
@DEBO5 I wrestled before bjj and have become obsessed with foot sweeps in gi and nogi. The footwork is the same, grips vary a bit. I'm much better at nogi but enjoy the gi more. Did you have any other grappling background before bjj?
@DEBO510 ай бұрын
@@CaleCoast Nope. Just Muay Thai. But my first bjj coach always made us drill russian ties, arm drags and single leg entries. I'm looking to do straight wrestling soon, but not too many good options in Canada unfortuantely. I tried my hardest to get our highschool to start a wrestling team but my school was full of wimps. There's no shortage of bjj/mma gyms in my area, and even with my limited wrestling experience, I can still take down brown and black belts fairly easily (but when it hits the floor that's a different story lol). I'm guessing you're american?

de ashi barai in Judo, Jiu Jitsu, Sambo. They call it this in BJJ too if the instructor has Judo exp. In wrestling and sometimes BJJ they simply call it a "footsweep". The thing is, there are over 4x high % foot sweeps so its good to lean the nomenclature. Theyre harder to land than they look. Its a perfect timing technique with the person having to know alot about momentum, offbalancing etc. However once you know it, it opens up alot of doors for you because the concept/timing can be applied to all facets of grappling. One of the best guys in agtual Wrestling with this move was a heavyweight named Steve Mocco. He started in Judo and got that base and ended up becoming a great wrestler for Iowa and USA. He also became a Florida Top Team MMA fighter and wrestling coach. Watch some Steve Mocco footage to see his killer technique.
