TRY THESE THREE FOOTWORK DRILLS INDIVIDUALLY OR WITH YOUR TEAM!!
The drills aim to get your feet moving and improve balance and stability.
1. Lateral fast feet- outside foot leads, quick efficient steps, no cross over of feet. Work both sides, players are usually stronger on one side.
2. Single leg alternate hops- balance, stability, safe landings and coordination. Tell players to take their time, pause on each hop, work forwards and backwards.
3. Fast feet double foot landings- quick feet, accelerate and land safely. Forward movement set, encourage players to use small steps and a wide base landing. For the second set, players need to incorporate a half turn. Complete a right turn, accelerate and safe landing then a left turn, accelerate and safe landing.
Use these drills at home.
Second set add a ball, and pass to the player while they are working.
