Hey mike! My name is Michael from makco transmission parts! You did a great job here and we thank you for choosing makco for your transmission parts needs!

Michael Tomlin I was happy to find your company easily with Google search, and I liked the variety of options offered as far as transmission overhaul kits and aftermarket improvement parts. When I had a minor issue with the TC core return, it was resolved quickly via email. I will recommend/use Makco with any future transmission projects.

Would you recommend getting the parts and just doing a complete overhaul.

My experience with this transmission was that I should have ordered a "deluxe" overhaul kit from the beginning, which is one that includes all the frictions and steels. If you watch my other videos on his unit, you'll see it needed a lot of valve body repair, so keep that in mind. Most people will not get involved in that and just replace them. To replace the 3 valve bodies was around $2000, so I saved that by churching them up. A side note: This is still my rainy day/winter car, with 60k miles of assault on this transmission since I fixed it.

This looks very doable for a basic mechanic person , if an place to do it is available etc.It seems you went to AAMCO trans shop and bought a kit and maybe a few misc things at a nother local trans parts place??Did you get bearing s pressed on at AAMCO or a part store place with tools to do that as my gear has once bad bearing needing that done.?$1600.00 for a rebuilt unit is a deal, if car is nice.It is a toss up is spending $1600ish dollars to redo mine,, as this era of cars are plentiful running for about that price or parting them out, with good trans in them for 300 bucks or so..

I have a 98 Accord with this transmission, but its got major issues. It only has second gear unless I unplug the torque solenoid. After that, I have 2nd, 4th and reverse. Tried flushing it, replaced all of the solenoids, switches and sensors and still having this issue. I can't afford to replace it or rebuild it. I have about $1.50 to my name and my income is piss poor. What can I do?

Rebuild it or buy a new one

What did it cost you to overhaul?
@Fopeano9 жыл бұрын
$500 for overhaul kit and torque converter, $120 for diff bearings and shims, about $600 in solenoids, and a couple hundred more for incidentals like fluid, other gaskets, couple cases of brake cleaner, rags, etc. About $1400 total. It would have gotten a new valve body if it was done for anybody else. It's mint though and was worth it considering the $800 price of the car and how nice it is otherwise.
