Whether you like him or not. You can’t deny Barry is a hitting guru. He learned baseball at a young age from his father ,who was a pretty fair player himself, and his godfather was one of the 5 greatest players ever... The great great Willie Mays. Good video. Choking up makes some sense, and potentially could use longer closer to maximum barrel bat from the tradeoff in weight. Today's pitchers all throw hard and spin. I was only comfortable at the end of the bat, and sometimes even down in my pinkie finger. It wasn't easy to find long bats. I think everyone has had thousands of hours of whiffle bat and weighted bat swings emulating their heroes. Bonds was the best.

When Barry Bonds played for the Pirates during the early 1990's, he obviously had MVP stats during the regular season, but, when it came time to demonstrate that talent in the playoffs he would go AWOL! The truest measure of greatness for any professional athlete in his chosen sport is "how did he perform when the stakes were at their highest"! Unfortunately, Barry Bonds would 'shrivel up and die' during the Post Season when his team needed him the most! For that very reason, he'll forever be labeled a "CHOKER" in the eyes of many Pirate fans!

Baseball needs to make them legal so we can see the most exciting thing about baseball the home runs.

Barry could have been considered the greatest player ever if he would have just let his charisma shine instead of being the person he was. It's not a hard thing to do. If someone asks you a question you don't like, respond with how much you love the game and wish every day was a double header. If a teammate is getting better press than you, be happy for him and elevate him. Do this in earnest. If you have to fake it, then do some introspection to find out why.

That said, he was one of the best HITTERS of all time and is a NO DOUBT 1st ballot HOF’er.

Pete Rose said it best. "took 20 plus years for a guy to hit more than 50 in one season. Then you had guys going 60 and 70 like it was nothing. Guys hitting it out of the stadium.....you don't get better with age." The baseball community knows, Barry was good before the alleged usage of PEDs. But him averaging a homerun every 6.52 at bats in 2001 isn't humanly possible at that age (36) without supplements. I say let that cheat into the Hall of Fame. But make sure a BIG ASTERISK is next to that man's numbers.
