I’m reading Exiles by Jane Harper right now, loving it! It’s the Australian readathon at the moment! So yay Australian books!

you have definitely sold me on both the hollow places and penance!! I have seen rebecca makkai's books around and I was never super interested in them but now I now I can put my reading time elsewhere 😬

You completely talked me into Penance! I appreciate your thoughts about Makkai’s book-I don’t remember a lot of details about it but your review brought to mind some great book club discussions I had about this one.

The Hollow Places was my first T Kingfisher book. I loved it and will be forever haunted by my mind's eye vision of Sturdivant. 😬 I loved The Twisted Ones also.

A recommendation: Michelle Paver. First book I read by her I had to turn on all my lights, pull up the covers and savor: the setting, the characters, the mystery. "Dark Matter" is the title.

Pal you have TOTALLY sold me on The Hollow Places, added to the wish list immediately

I’m so happy you are posting more! Hopefully helpful feedback- the music in this one was a little too loud? Or maybe too repetitive or bass heavy? I’m not sure but I found it distracting

I swear library of the unwritten if cursed. I had almost the fact same experience I just couldn’t click with it so put it down. Kept not wanting to pick up which slowly turned into a just get rid of it 🤦♀️ I then was in a bad reading slump for about 6 months!

I agree so much with Library of the Unwritten - I loved the premise but it really didn't work. I also couldn't handle that the Muse Brevity was never once brief.

the lost man... the book I started with my hubby, and then he had to travel for work, so I told him to go ahead without me and id finish it another time. then months of distractions later, we see it on the shelf at target, and he says "oh! theres that book where *insert every possible spoiler here*!" and im like "...I haven't finished it yet, but I suppose I have NOW!!!" lol

I had a feeling you weren't going to like The Book of Accidents from how you were describing what you believed it to be about Australian fiction - have you read No Country for Girls by Emma Styles? I just read it and it was a fun thriller across a bit of Australia

It's funny that you hated Library so much cuz I was just reading book 3 in the series before pausing to watch this video. You had a similar reaction to this book that I had to The Starless Sea!

As usual I ordered a book from you recommendations.😅 I'm too scared to start Iron Gold, I got so involved with the characters. I may have to reread the first trilogy instead.

hollow places. so far ive loved every TKF book ive read. she's what I WANTED Silvia Moreno Garcia to be. I know automatically that img going to enjoy whatever I pick up by TKF now. it just is. vs SMG I know will be "okay" and a 3.0 star and "it was fine" feeling.

Haha, I just knew when I finished (and loved) I Have Some Questions for You that you would, um... not vibe with it. Sorry it didn't work for you but at least now you have the mental and physical space to spend on books/authors you WILL love. Imma keep reading Makkai tho. 😂

I hated The Dry. I couldn't get into it and was bored with it. As an Aussie myself I was so sad that I felt this way. Glad you enjoyed it though.

I love this Lianne. I am going to try the Dry, as an Aussie I feel like I should 😆Have you seen the movie with Eric Bana? I only just saw there was one so no I haven't seen it. Just wondering, books are best 99% of the time as we know 🙂🦘

🦘I read Penance - the library would only loan it to me for 2 weeks because of such a long waiting list - I watch a lot of true crime on tv and youtube and I became confused as to whether I was reading true crime - I can't say I enjoyed it because it was too realistic but I did read it quickly and had it back to the library on time - this is not the norm for me at all. So I would recommend it 🦘
