As requested by Fanawb Productions, a vintage General Electric "Twin Fan Ventilator" window fan from the 1950s. 3 speeds and thermostat control. The unit was repainted at some point by one of the previous owners, the guards would have originally been a polished chrome finish and the rest of the unit the color of the back.
It needs a fair bit of work; the paint needs to be stripped off and redone to the original finish, the thermostat needs to be replaced, the blades need to be balanced, and the rubber grommets securing the blades to the shafts need to be replaced. All that aside, the unit still runs 7 decades later and offers quite impressive performance for its size.

Extra comment. First off thanks for the video response. Second, what I have heard is people use automotive vacuum plugs for the blade grommet. I also hate those grommets. I have a really old All purpose, beautiful fan almost perfect . Only issue is on high it makes this buzzing noise which is caused by the grommet slipping. And I can’t pull it apart because the collar on the switch is really tight on there. And I do not want to use a pliers because I will scratch it.

That's an interesting idea. I really hate servicing these, fortunately they rarely need it.

I like this fan! It’s a neat design and of course the fact that it lasts a long time is great. I would say it would be better if the motor was easier to service. I will say the motor is better on this fan then in any modern fan.

What's the chance you can do some videos on some older pedestal fans like the lasko one with blue blades? I recently acquired a few and have been impressed with their build quality! Here are the model #s if you are curious. 1. Frigid brand OSH163-81 16 inch pedestal fan (Blue blades) 120v, 0.9 amps (Curious if the 81 means 1981) 2. Air King 9151Lv 16 inch pedestal (Grey blades) 120v, 0.7 amps (Serial number suggests 1993 for the year:11283093) 3. Galaxy brand 4c507 (Dayton oem) 12 inch pedestal fan (Blue blades) 115v, 0.37a (you have this one)

I love these! I have the T2 and the t4 I believe what you have there is the t3. Basically all models of these were good fans. Yours is in great shape. Going to probably restore mine when I can. I’ve seen some that look really bad. You could probably source any old switch and thermostat as a replacement. Also bear in mind the motors in these dual window fans made by GE are 60 volts and wired in series.
@JordanU

I would really like to find one of these, I have never had a window version of those fans, but I have had 2 of the desk model fans with that same motor. one of them I still have, the other one I gave to a friend to borrow a few years ago and it seems to have completely vanished. They always worked great and moved a lot of air but always ran very quietly. The one that I still currently has started developing a high pitched squeal, so I quit using it, I guess I really need to ad an oil port to it and see if I can get it to go. Do I just have to drill a hole in that very back metal plate?
@JordanU
@JordanU 2 жыл бұрын
I would tap a nail through rather than drilling, this way you avoid the chance of getting any shavings in the bearing.

May you please & kindly not film with the rounded fish-eye lens objects that are not necessary to film with the rounded fish-eye lens? The distortion is ugly and distracting, and takes away from the subject in my opinion because it makes it harder to see what it's actually supposed to look like. That lens is fine for situations where a super wide angle shot is ideal like installing the ceiling fans with a head mount, but just doesn't fit here. I can tell, at least on low, what a difference the grommet makes. I could hear a lot more pure wind noise than motor hum. Neat that it has the same blades as some of the oscillating fans of the time. I wonder if the thermostat quit and got removed, since some individual along its lifetime felt so inclined to do a mini restoration.
@JordanU
@JordanU 2 жыл бұрын
May you rude and obnoxiously accept my explanation that it being recorded that way was user error, the camera was not configured properly. I did not intend to record with that lens. The motors are nearly silent. It does make a big difference, the design of these fans was truly exceptional. It does appear as though the fan was in the hands of someone mechanical at some point as repairs have been made and service has been done by someone with a decent working knowledge of these motors.
@Xyspade
@Xyspade 2 жыл бұрын
@@JordanU The certainly! Several videos have been recorded with that lens so far so it didn't seem like a user error anymore, I was hoping it was not going to become a regular thing.

Hey Jordan, I hope you have a great day! This morning Stacy made waffles and pancakes! Christopher was very excited and he ate quite a few of them! Christopher got syrup all over his hands and then proceeded to touch everything in the house! Right now Christopher is getting ready as we are going to Kmart to get Christopher his Christmas gifts! Lemont is cleaning up all of the syrup from the waffles and pancakes that Christopher got all over everything! Christopher is extremely excited to go to Kmart today! we are going to leave to go to Kmart in about an hour!
