Btw NPC doesn’t mean “person who isn’t famous and can do regular things” it means “person who is unchanged by outside force” if I can try my best to be explain it. Basically, they are all that they ever will be. They exist just for what they do. For instance, I used to talk conspiracies with my boss and noticed there was a point I couldn’t pass with him. Sadly we can’t be friends because he’s an NPC he even forgets some stuff I tell him and reverts to his original programming. They’re the people who keep smoking even though they have cancer. They’re the ones who wear a mask inside a car. Anyways it’s hard to explain. My favorite explanation comes from an anime called angel beats, where they are sent to an “afterlife” for those who were given an unfair death and wish to reclaim their happiness and dreams before they pass on. In that world there are other students who never pass on. They are simply there to fill the school. But usually, most souls end up staying there because it’s so nice and they don’t want to die. The freedom fighters of the story decide to find the ruler of this world. It was a program set up a long time ago, the creator since passed. I forget the ending but yeah
