For IR: Seiko 6139-8020 “Rally” restoration Part 1

I have an identical one. It was my father's, and he bought it when I was about 6 years old; in 1973; I think at a duty-free store in Bermuda. I told him when he was planning his estate that his Seiko was really the only personal item I wanted him to leave me. He actually left me all his watches, including the trapezoidal Gruen that he got for his 15th birthday, and my grandfather's pocket watches. Oh, and his Mustang convertible. Thanks Dad! Miss you!

You can get similar styled straps from Strapcode/Miltat called a Rollball, there are two versions, one a little more retro than the other.

One of these just sold on a local auction site it would have been the Aussie version that you mentioned. It had a yellow second sweep and minute counter hands but without the original bracelet. Sold for NZ $305= US $188. Keep well from New Zealand 🇳🇿

Still yet to find one without pull my undies down price tags lol So I had to console my self this week with another grail for me, a 6309 large Seiko square with the brilliant caseback spring removers on the case, think the case was used again for later DX's. Got a couple curvy TV's but not the sharp corner one and this will do me fine and one day I will have an automatic chrono in the collection, til then I will make do with my Alpha ST19 mech chrono for posing rights :D

I have a lovely triple crowned Bessa world timer based on the Mortima case and movement, abs gawjus but it needs regulating and degaussing with caseback off. Major design flaw is its got the many facet caseback ridges, all well and good except you can't get a wrench on it due to shape of lugs so out came the industrial superglue and a 24mm flanged nut, held in a 6 inch King Dick girder wrench packed out with a microfibre cloth and a 9 inch King Dick girder wrench to put maximum torque's on and it came off so easily lol I am seriously considering for future use to dremel out two or three notches so I can fit my Jaxa wrench in or see if I have a notched caseback I can polish flat and use that instead.

Hi Spencer, Curious if you could show where the extra 4 jewels are on the 6139a JDM 21 vs Import 17 jewel movements? I have a Notch Pogue 69 but I also have a few donor watches in case anything comes up when I service however I noticed one of the parts watches I picked up has the 21j movement.
