Thirty years ago in June 1994, I went to AtlantaFest specifically to see Michael W. "Smitty" Smith. ( I also got the chance to meet some guys from a band called Whiteheart!) In the last 10 years, I've been taking my kids to WinterJam, Night of Joy, and Rock the Universe to see bands that include for King and Country. This combo is a gem!

In 2013, you performed at a Relay for Life concert in Savannah, TN. My friend helped organize the event so I got to be a roadie for a day. There’s no way y’all would remember me, but y’all were so warm and down to earth. I was asked to setup CDs at your merch table with a few other people. I had never setup a merch table before so I thought I would try and make it look as best I could. I had CDs standing at angles and leaning back, like they look in catalogs. A man came by and looked at the stack I made. He said, “Whoever made this, you could make a killing in merchandising. It looks really great, but we’re just trying to sell CDs.” He then stacks all the CDs into small towers. I found out after he left that the man was your father! I wasn’t embarrassed by all that, I actually thought it was hilarious. Sharing your parents’ story through “Unsung Heroes” is a perfect way to let the world know who’s behind the scenes of your success - the ones making sure the merch table doesn’t look like a storefront!

But at this point, all I can do is hope he had a soul saving knowledge and love of Christ, and focus my life on making sure I do too!
