For MP: Seiko 7006-8007 restoration

2nd of three watches from one customer. Silver-dialed dress watch on its original BOR bracelet. Interesting purple patina developing on the dial.

This one really had a great transformation. You were right, the hand polishing really brought that case back to life, while maintaining the originality of the piece.

Wonderful restoration of that 7006. It really cleaned up well. Not many dress type JDM watches with lume. Plus, the lume was incorporated while keeping the slender hands and indices. Just lovely. If it doesn't involve a Spencer exclusive secret, can you do a segment on how you did the polishing?

Very satisfying video, all those 7006s are progenitors to 7s, 4r and 6r. Great movements, very good timekeepers, proudly own one from 1976 in a very good condition, i have bought it serviced and runs great.

I had one that was a couple years newer and had a black face. I had it serviced in the 80s I took in in because the automatic weight cam unscrewed. It was also missing the bezel because it cracked and fell off. Never did get a new bezel.

very similar like mine is 1978 Seiko 7009-8129. soo ... I went Collingwood Flea Market in Farmingdale, NJ. Browsing on the booths outside. I spot a vintage Seiko watch on the shelves inside the glass box. I observe Seiko Automatic watch having a few little scratches on the crystal and waterproof. And the movement caliber is 7009-8129. It seems the 1970s early. I ask the guy about running is work or not. He say, “still running work. I test a wind horizontal carefully in few seconds. Then the second hand move is running work well. I ask him, “how much cost this?” He mentions $39….. I offer him $30. He accepts it. I bought it…. Right now my 1970s Seiko Automatic is real bad dirty. I really need a professional watch repair a restoration for deep cleaning a bath and needing an accuracy time… need crystal replacement, too

Excellent work as always. Does the barrel arbour jewel require a new arbour also? I would assume that the arbour would have equal wear, or is it made of a harder steel? Thanks.

The baseplates are plated brass, the arbors are steel. The wear to the arbor would be minimal.

Is it true that 17 jewels was the lesser export version (due to customs rules) but the JDMs of this movement had 27 jewels? I have a JDM 7006 Bellmatic and it read 27 jewels.

Great video, I found you while searching for this exact model for more info. I have a 17 jewels automatic which was my grandfathers. I have had it for almost 10 years now and I would like it restored. Would you happen to know if there are fake / counterfeits in this model? I am also wondering why you can get them for under $100 if they are vintage and good watches. Thanks in advance

Great video! Have the identical watch. Can the crystal be replaced from the back after removing movement? I don't have a special crystal removal tool.
