Great idea with the closet panel from home depot! I will be doing that. I'm in the same zone you are, I think. I live in Toano/Williamsburg, VA area. Do you find that your cucumbers need shade in the heat of the summer? I was thinking about the cattle trellising for a plant in my raised bed, which is actually 3 feet off the ground. But this bed currently has no afternoon shade. Just curious. The last time I grew cucumbers we had late afternoon shade in that area.

I used your ideas about how to blend red clay(Oklahoma) with potting soil and organic compost. I planted yellow squash and zucchini. In my home town the City mixes and high quality compost. It is tested by Oklahoma State University Ag Department before selling. A scoop(pickup load) cost $22.00.

I did peroxide my plants once about 5 days ago but leaves are turning black now and only on my tomatoes. Im new gardner and Im in full panic. It has been around 105-109 degrees. Could it be heat ? I have tomatoes that have been on the vine for weeks but arent ripening...heat ?
@loestum60104 жыл бұрын
Gary, I used your hydrogen peroxide and water spray as the tomatoes had a lot of leaf blight (particularly the Brandywine and Paul Robeson plants) we have had over 10 inches of rain this month. Worked like magic !.The blight is gone and new growth is perfect... just wondering if you can mix the aspirin with the peroxide to save on soaking the plants?

There are only 1 maybe 2 true leaves on the seedlings. Please advise. Thanks so much!

Using Mel's metal conduit framework with 2 ft rebar stakes but isntead of putting up a trellis net, I am hanging string from the top. Going to use the tomato string clips to single stem the cucumbers. Similar to this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hHerloCai9yab80 . I hope the vines hold up to the wind .. may have to secure the string at the bottom now that I think about it! Might have to go with the trellis net afterall.. hrm..
