The entire for-profit education industry is trash and fraudulent. I attended the Art Institutes from 2009-2012. The recruiters do exactly what this video says. During my time there the quality of education, on-campus ammenities and instruction got worse and worse. I now have $60,000 in student debt and couldn't get employed in my field (advertising). After months and months of applying for ad jobs, I landed just 2 interviews. In one interview I was asked "why I would be a qualified candidate compared to people who went to other more prominent schools?" They knew of my school's pathetic reputation. My former campus is closing in two months and my degree now useless. Don't go to these schools!!
@1czechit12 жыл бұрын
I went to the Art Institute and to the University of Texas. I learned more at the Art Institute. All colleges (AI, and UT) are worthless to some degree. My real education began on my second job in the industry. From that job's connections I got pretty much all my other jobs. What really set me apart was that I showed up on time, did the work, helped my colleagues, and had a good attitude (I smiled.) If you really want to learn, read a book and get a job. All higher education is a scam.

The problem is they pitch themselves to a lot of people leading difficult lives that probably weren't really good students in high school, or maybe didn't make the best decisions. A B average student can usually get some scholarships at a state level school, so a lot of these people are probably C students that started to intellectually mature late and are in despair at where to go in their lives.

I imagine the government is going to try to extract the money from the profits of these institutions, because it'll be a terrible look for them to go after hundreds of thousands of students for places the government allowed to exist and tacitly endorsed. That said, it'll be hard for them to recoup some money lost to the ether since smart investors left long ago. They'll probably get back a few hundred million of the billions owed and call it a wash

Another scam I noticed was that you CONSTANTLY are buying art supplies from the "campus art store" increasing their profits and putting students even more in debt.

The way to do college and have no debt is to work full time or part time and go to a good college online. That way you can pay off you college while you attend. Also ask your employer to help you pay for tuition, and use CLEPs to test out of as many classes as you can. Lots of fast food jobs have deals with colleges or even scholarships. If you want to accelerate your degree to get done faster, try Western Governor's University or excel track at Purdue University Global.
