I cringe whenever someone tells me they're attending the University of Phoenix. It's sad because people are so desperate to have a respectable job and make a good earning that they'll just believe in any scam.

What really disgusts me is the university of phoenix offers courses online to soldiers in the military (I don’t know if they still do, this would’ve been back in 2012, 2013 somewhere around there), For everything a soldier goes through they should have the right to A degree they can do something with. Honestly is nothing sacred.

Most of the big for-profit colleges, like Colorado Technical University, University of Phoenix, and Devry prey on low income borrowers. The business model is simple, openly enroll the people who have access to Title IV funding and Pell Grant. 90% of the revenue these colleges make comes from federal funding...aka your tax dollars. The problem is...people don't graduate from these schools, so the return on investment for society is zero. Colorado Technical University's graduation rate is around 28%, and most of those who do graduate can't get legitimate jobs in their field of study - because employers don't want to hire someone who attended an online for profit college. Just look up their financial statements....most of the school's revenue goes to Admissions and Marketing and settling lawsuits, not student services or education. It's a brilliant business model, if you're Dr. Evil.

@@iamcleaver6854 - I’ve been wondering the same thing. The United States still has a long way to go. We need universal free healthcare, free colleges, better maternity leave, better education overall - especially when it comes to elementary schools and middle schools, better prison reform, etc. The United States isn’t progressive when it comes to many things, unfortunately.

It's not a scam because I can say we actually work our butts off at UOPX I've been working like crazy the fact is 40% of employers know it's an actual degree where the other half is use to Brick and Mortar, it just means people that believe these degrees are fake hasn't tried going to UOPX so they only know what they say and not the facts. In all honesty people keep going for degrees where there aren't any jobs such as jailers, psychiatrist, communications, etc., computers is where most jobs exist now a days and most go for things that no one is looking for at the moment.

True, although Community College will only offer an Associate Degree. Most people go to a university because they want a Bachelor, but because of tough requirements they're using For Profit as an outlet.
@AmberBocks30006 жыл бұрын
Some community colleges now have agreements with universities to offer bachelors degrees now that students can do online work. The offerings are slim, but this is a positive change especially in rural areas where higher ed schools are few and far between.

"One reason is we're making mistakes..." Translation: We got caught. "For whatever reason...somebody is doing things wrong too widespread..." Translation: We know what the problem is, but we don't want the public to know. "We're going to change that." Translation: We're going to punish who got caught as a warning for others to be more subtle. I suppose that this unscrupulous behavior is an effect of basic motivational policies encouraging deception.

I'm currently going through going back into education while working. All I'm gonna say is please dont take shortcuts. So basically dont choose a course that won't really get you to where you want to be, but you'll be working in a stable industry. I find that most people struggle to stay on their course when they're not fully committed or if they know theres a good chance they won't get a good job. The other thing is don't just join a university that tells you what you want to here. It sounds like it's a bit more complicated to understand eligibility to go into certain careers in the US. Where I live in the UK its alot easier. But just make sure you do alot of research and get a second opinion too even if it's on social media sites like reddit. Which actually can help.

Find out why this college ranked the way it did. The longer the bar, the better the college performed. Green bars show a better than average ranking. Yellow is about average and red is below average. Overall, Southern New Hampshire University is ranked 1,125 out of 1,383. This means that about 81% of the colleges in o rank as well or better than SNHU

I mean Alexandra Olaya Castro, Llinas , Gabriel Garcia Marques , Patarroyo , Salomón Hakim ...etc for some reason they are so good , (or they were) . And if u compare costs ..believe me, is really cheap. U just have to pay ( private university ) $18.000 per year and if is a public university ...4.000 per year .

They didn't return your calls because verifying credit transfer is not the job of accreditation departments. Also, no school is going to verify transfer credits without you having an official transcript sent to them first. Lastly, and please don't take this the wrong way, but your punctuation coupled with the fact that you don't seem to know how to spell the word 'college' correctly, is going to get you laughed at when trying to apply to any school.

While you are correct, I would like to point out that "the government" are the ones allowing students attending these for-profit colleges to take out federal loans to attend them. While non-profit and state schools can be just as nasty and misleading, chances are your debt isn't going to be anything compared to what it is going to be after you attend a for-profit school. My degree would have costed me 82k at devry. Better 15k for a useless degree than 82k if you ask me.

Yes you're right going to college most of the time leaves you with a debt, BUT for profit colleges don't offer real education. Their degrees are useless and top notch companies don't take them serious. Going to a for profit school will leave you with a debt like you went to medical school. Except when you go to medical school you're actually able to pay it off because medical school graduates will make way more than a for profit school graduate. And that's just the truth. Stay away from these for profit colleges! They're useless and a waste of money and time.
