Lots of people Have been calling rebuilt trucks “gliders” . Just to be clear : a glider is a brand new truck that comes off the assembly line from the factor with no motor, no transmission and no rear ends. Then it is shipped to a dealer or shop and then a used or new reman motor and trans package is installed. Just because you rebuilt your motor, doesn’t mean it’s a glider. This one is a true glider from what I see. Yes they still make brand new Columbia’s. Even as I type this. Banks rather finance a Columbia before they finance a regen/def truck. I had a Columbia I built from Frame up. Then am building a Western Star now. That’s the only way to go for otr. Nonemmsions.

They have been around for so long that they used to come from the factory with pre egr Detroit 12.7 60 series. So there would already be a layout for engine mounting brackets. And all those extra years to perfect the glider conversion on a particular model.

I was wondering that myself. You would think most owner operators would spend a little more to have that 12.7 glider in a used T680 or even a T660.

John Hamilton T660 gliders have too many electrical issues and kenworth never offered a T680 glider. plus T680s are emissions truck and in order for a glider to be a legal glider without the emissions stuff it has to be labeled as a glider from factory(I think at least, I need to double check my facts

I think freightliner only offers the glider package in the Columbia or Coronado ,so you do not have a whole lot of choice . Peterbilt or kw gilders Im sure are way more new or used vs freightliner

detroit S60 12.7L thats the real beauty whats the length of that bed ? looks short. can it fit a 6 ft guy ? also you said 336 miles or 336k miles ?

Zaid Chalabi 336K yes. Matress is Twin XL I’m 6 feet and slept in it comfortably

I can't deal with the interior noise of a columbia. I have some hearing loss and they very little insulation from engine noise.

Those gliders are pos. OVERPRICED, noisy, 5 mpg, block, head and everything alls is reman for how long how many times and thousands of heat exchanges, they will need to be rebuild around 700k miles and they are braking probably more then a new trucks. Buy new they are more efficient and learn how to properly maintain and never idle emission truck and it will last you over 1 million miles or buy older original!
