This is an exclusive interview I conducted with Orville “Bugs Can Can” Hall and Phil “Triggaman” Price of the legendary rap group The Showboys. They talk about the history of Bounce Music, Drake sampling their music, 50 cent before the fame, Irv Gotti, Beastie Boys, Run-D.M.C. and Jam Master Jay etc..
All videos on this channel are created by me. I film my footage using a Cannon 4000D DSLR and also buy footage and images from royalty-free stock website Storyblocks for which I pay an annual membership. All the narrations are provided by me and or my guests and are exclusive for this channel. I interview guests and allow them to share their stories. I present these stories in a documentary style format. All the content has original commentary and narrative. My videos contain high quality edits and special effects to create truly unique content. I use Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premier and Adobe Photoshop to help create these video. All the music I use is from KZbin's Audio Library.

TBH them niggas gave the direction to and gave rise to the south music, whether you call it buk ,crunk, bounce all of that shit was inspired by bucks nem 1 song triggaman..And I'm down south nigga! And to this day the south ain't really deviated from the formula! That's why the south winning right now! Them boys came up with some original shit that was alien to NYC that's why it didn't catch on there, the south recognized it..They were ahead of their time.

Actually, LL was the first to release a record for Def Jam in 84. I Need a Beat was recorded and released in 84. I still have the original 12 inch of that record I bought as a 15 year old kid. I’ve always been a hip hop fanatic. I also have the original copy from 85 of the Hollis Crew. I had to cop their record on the strength of Run Dmc shouting them out on their songs. Also Hollis crew and Jimmy Spicer released the same year in 85. Jimmy Spicer record is called This Is It and Beat the Clock. Info Minds, dope interview. Thank you for shining light on the Showboys because they deserve it and much more. Shout out to the Hollis Crew and all of Queens. Oh yeah we most certainly can’t forget about the legendary Live Squad. Shout out to Maj. peace info minds.

Also in the mid 80s there was a DJ called Mike Allen. He did a weekly 2 hour Hip Hop radio show that was syndicated all over the country (for most of the country outside of London,Manchester, Birmingham &Bristol where there were pirate stations it was the only place where you could hear any Hip Hop ) on a Sunday night. It was essential listening(and taping) for all the B Boys.Drag Rap /Triggaman was a massive tune on that show for weeks. That was where I first heard it.

It wasn’t Lil Jon, it was Triple Six Mafia “Tear Da Club Up”. I live in a Memphis, and lived through that era too.. Bruh Memphis did NOT get Tear Da Club Up from New Orleans.. 3-6 Mafia came up with that because everybody(dope boys & rappers) had clubs in every part of the city, and Shake Junts(stripe clubs).. along with that there was a lot of killings, shootings, and fights in clubs due to certain songs that were for certain parts of the city.. North Memphis, South Memphis, Orange Mound, Black Haven, 3rd World, etc.. they would get to fighting, and shooting in the clubs.. you think Memphis niggas went to New Orleans and saw that? Hell naw, it was here already.. why even say that? When New Orleans was known for bounce on some 2Live Crew type of vibe.. same with ATL.. we wasn’t on that, we had Gangsta Walking, and Buck’n, Jook’n.. the strippers had the bounce tho in the clubs..

Um from Memphis an D.J. Paul an Lord Infamous(R.I.P.) are my 2 second cousins an the Show Boyz came to a club called No Name an thats when there era of the gangsta walk began. An Memphis had more heat back then than ATL could ever come with. ATL stole alot of out shit cuz of Freaknik. All ATL had was booty shaking music.

I think that the reason that the song disappeared after a few months is because the threat that this song was going to cause violence especially during concerts. Run DMC was under the radar in the middle 80's because of gang violence happening at some of their's and other rapper's concerts especially around 1985. This song, eventhough spoofy, mention guns and violence when groups like Run DMC stayed away from mentioning guns in their rap songs

It's debatable whether It's The Beat is the 1st Dec Jam.The catalogue number is DJ 007 there were 6 tracks out before that.L.L Cool J "I need a beat " being the 1st (DJ001 ) and even before that TLA Rock "Its Yours " was a co release between Party Time & Def Jam records. (I am being polite it's no debatable it's flat out wrong)

I agree. Russell was probably mad at Run for signing to Priority and gave his beat away. They probably recorded it first but when u have LL and T la Rock ready to be pressed up to vinyl "Its the beat" becomes #7.
