yesterday my dad sent me this poem, i had a bit of time today so i put some music to it and did a quick live sing. some of the images were taken by my mom and dad some from the net. we've had the snowiest winter in years… and the snow is still everywhere…and deep!!!! . . . thus the inspiration for my dad's poem.
my dad just suggested that i add this link for the bird call and information about the 'Cardinal' • Birding by Ear: Northe...

Oh yes, not a hunger spring, because Mr Hermiston had a feast, for all the beautiful birds. I once fixed a sparrow's nest blown by typhoon, and fed them, too. They still can remember me long after, always hopping on my scooter when it was parked anywhere outdoor. Lovely poem and lovely tune!

Superbe chanson, et superbes photos de tous ces magnifiques oiseaux. En France, nous avons moins de belle varietes. Durant l'hiver (sans neige) nous voyons des mesanges, des verdiers, des rouges-gorges, des pinsons. Amities - Francois

finding hope and beauty in our winged friends, they really are vocal when spring finally arrives, I like to think they are happy. I envy a bit, your pretty cardinal. We have so such rival! in fact the first one I ever beheld was years ago in Michigan, a real treat. against the background of snow.... Wonderful poem and musical creation, bravo, Mssrs Hermiston!

me too ( longing)....this next week involves dental work I've put off to critical point...not looking forward to that:-(...nicest aspect of that day is that I get to take an hour cruise down canyon to river and and up again to reach the dr. I am learning to sleep with a noisy ole Pa, only feet away, he never goes to bed anymore, just sleeps in his chair.

Very well observed... especially the chickadee line. That is precisely what they do, pick up a seed fly away and split open the shell on the branch of a nearby tree. How is it that they have the same behaviour pattern both in Canada and Finland? Have you come across the Phenology website, as a gardener I find it fascinating looking for signs of Spring in Bud bursts, returning of migratory birds, appearance of frogs spawn, bees cleaning out their hives, ants stirring in their ant hills, birds building nests. In times past those were the observations you had to make in order to know when to plant seed in the ground. A farmer friend says he will not plant seed until the wood grouse, *capercaillie*, Tetrao urogallus begins to fight in the forest. Mating and egg laying are definitely a sign that Spring has arrived.

A wonderful collab. Not for the birds at all. And we and other parts of the west are in a major drought. A wee bit of moisture this weekend will be so welcome. I have to wonder what cities will flood when your snow melts. Send a little my way.

Bonjour Michael- I understand who you took after regarding the artistic and creative mind :) Your dad did write such beautiful lyrics. Your vocals suits joyfuly this hymn to these gorgeous creatures, I bet they'd be grateful for your performance if they could speak . Unfortunately in the city where I live, there aren't as many birds as in your video, so I close my eyes and dream about it....Very nice-as always . Take care !

Locally the grackles steal the cat food I put out for the outdoor cats... One of my greatest pleasures at the old place was when in the spring the cardinals would first bring their babies to our porch, to show them where they could find seeds. They would flutter their wings and beg for food, long after they were big enough to get their own, and the cardinals - being attentive parents - would always oblige...
