I have been married to a woman for 23 years, we are only in our early 40's with two grown children. I was so busy trying to make a living and help raise or children I never noticed how beautiful my wife was. The boys are grown and gone and now its just her and I. I for the first time to get spend time with her and this song fits my situation. I wasnt always the perfect husband and it took me years to mature, Im just so greatful she never gave up on us and Im in love all over again. Great song!

I have been aware of Rod Stewarts talent from day one, many ,many years ago, the fact he is still very much in the world of music and entertainment, this is one of the few songs where he shows his true vocal ability to the full, as well as is understanding of the meaning of every word he sings, and i do mean sing, his voice really shines in this song like never before, perhaps because his heart is in the song, its beautiful and full of love. I think the older we get tbe more we pay atttention to the lyrics and what a song really means, this should become a true standard, and i cannot help but say that for the first time we hear the real beauty of his voice. I posted this a couple years ago, but just wanna say it again because I just relive that moment. My dad used to sing this to me a lot when I was a kid, and one day he was singing it and kind of dancing, and when it came to the verse “when you’re looking back at me”, he turns around and I turn around at the same time and look straight back at him. That was the first time he realized that I could comprehend the meaning behind sentences, he was so ecstatic! For years afterwards this was our Song, whenever it came on we always saying and looked back at each other. Just tonight, I was picking out songs to sing with him, and I chose this is the last song. And when that first came on, I looked back at him and he was so surprised, he had forgotten all about it, and then he kept on singing and laughing at the same time with sheer joy. I’m so happy that I got to bring that memory back to him, and I hope we will have more time together to sing this song.
