Hi Spring! Merry holidays 🎄! Im looking forward to seeing your loomed poncho! ❤❤❤ 😉 I remember, around 50+ years ago (😫) my second cousin on my moms side had a 96" loom! It was out in a shed. She and her eldest son were dressing it. Us kids weren't allowed in. 😢 Gosh, to be a fly on the wall. I do hope you show an abridged version of the whole process in a watch and see video. I know it takes a long time to dress a loom. Measuring out the yardage on a peg board of sorts. Then pulling the strings through the beater and wires with eyelets. Preparing the weft shuttles...I'm jelly you have all the things to make and do! ❤️ ❤️ ❤ I've been watching (looped) your spinning with a spindle tutorial series. I will need something not too expensive to comb/blend fibers together. I have combed/prepared wool. I have a pound (or 2?) in a basic brown, a half pound (?) in a dusty blue, and have other 4" felting wools for pops of different colors. I have yarn bee blend I bought on clearance in hopes help stretch and stabilize the yardage (is this an okay/good/bad idea?). I also have my late good ol' boy Coco's fluffy dog's last hair cut with long (3-4") under coat to work in too (chow/golden retriever mix). Coco's fur is the driver in this expedition of learning how to spin. I don't have enough weight to send out and have someone else make but I do have enough to incorporate on my own 😊. Plus to me, it will have that much more meaning making and wearing. Nice sweater ❤ I especially like the cable accent work down the arms 😍😍😍😍😍 Your penguin 🐧 is adorable 🥰 and the gmomes look complicated! And your vase is amazing! 🤩 You did a fine job! $145 for lessons and come home with the experience and a finished project! Winning!! The spinning wheel is made for a gnome! 😂 You have to get into the micro mode operating it! Nice creamer! How thoughtful 💖 Oh yum!! Caffinated chocolate 😅 zinging along making all the makes❤! What a thoughtful gift sharing music Linda. 💔💕 Nice hook! Love the colors❤! Cecilia nice work on the virus/kaleidoscope blanket! Fiber spider Craig!❤ Fantastic! Love your candy cane hat too 🥳 Angie, super cute snowman ⛄!! Cute santa gnome too! Lisa, nice hats! Bod has great tutorials! Nice scaf!!!❤ Super nice you made a blanket for your friend! Aww cute posh pups! Nice bags too! You've been bizzay! Tracy what a great idea with putting names on the blankets! 😁😁😁 No arguments there 😉! Sharon, nice blanket!! ❤❤❤ purrrrrple 💜 💜💜 Isnt it fun trying a new stitch pattern??! Nicely done! 💯 👍 Rose, love the ponchos ❤❤❤❤, nice hats too! Very pretty shawl, and jewelry makes too! Pretty shrug, im sure she will love it 💕 Fingerless gloves rock! You nailed it! 😉 ❤ Tunisian works! Very 👍 nice!! Thank you Spring for sharing!!!

Hi Spring, 😊 The gnomes are adorable. Can't wait until you set up the loom. I have wanted to have one since I was 10. I was finally able to get one from a rummage sale. Now I just need to learn how to use it. So many awesome projects.

What is the dist draft.
@SpringTheFiberEnthusiastАй бұрын
As per Wikipedia this is the technical reply: A distaff (/ˈdɪstɑːf/, /ˈdɪstæf/, also called a rock[1]) is a tool used in spinning. It is designed to hold the unspun fibers, keeping them untangled and thus easing the spinning process. It is most commonly used to hold flax and sometimes wool, but can be used for any type of fibre. Fiber is wrapped around the distaff and tied in place with a piece of ribbon or string. The word comes from Low German dis, meaning a bunch of flax, connected with staff. In Spring terms it’s a shaft that holds the fiber you are spinning ! The ribbon color wrapped around that fiber also has a significance to represent the woman spinning fiber, whether she is married, single or otherwise.
