A scuffed video on my thoughts of this specific "ergo" layout popularized by the TGR Alice. I made one since so many people always ask. I am no doctor so I can't say if this layout is actually "better" for your hands and stuff but I personally really like it.

bruh, I came here for knowledge and then I just zoned out admiring how good all the boards that you have look! Not sure I'll ever get an Alice or Arisu style board, but if I ever do, good to know that they are not bigger than a TKL. That's as big as I'll go (she said).

I have a Mistel split and I absolutely adore it. I use it split when gaming so I put my mic in between the two halves. It's very hard for me to go back to the regular layout. You don't feel the difference until you try an ergo board.

I have yet to find a split alice that ticks all my boxes. I would honestly cough up a crazy amount for the the perfect GB whenever it comes around. I'd love to have a split alice that tents and has arrow keys while retaining modifiers that aren't 1u wide. But thats very specific and I doubt I'll find one soon haha

Shhh... don't worry. It's okay. People need to know how inferior their ergonomics are. I too use an ergo keyboard, a split one, and a trackball. The layout is a modified colemak for max ergorgasms, min bigram frequency and perfect hand alteration balance. Everyone is so fascinated and interested in my setup when I start to talk about it. :----D

I will add on that, I have a keychron V10 which is an Alice layout and I have some custom xda keycaps profile because I actually don't use qwerty layout but a Dvorak layout and personally I feel a whole lot of comfort using that layout with Dvorak.

If you have really broad shoulders, apparently this sort of layout can help immensely. Dad has been using a basic Microsoft one for years (only upgraded from an old one with a PS/2 cable to an usb one last year) cause otherwise his back gets thrown out

I actually built my MGA Std for ergo. Using my tofu65 i was getting pain doing typing for school. Since I built my MGA my wrists no longer hurt. Plus alice layouts are super sexy, win-win

Your physical body size matters too. If you have wide shoulders and bigger built, I think the Arisu style will help tremendously and you're arms are not at 45 degree angle to the keyboard, causing major strain to your shoulders and wrist.

Personally standard keyboards make me feel like I’m bending my wrists too much and lead to strain a bit. I type slower on Alice layouts but they strain my wrists less from just a bit of experience!

As someone who speaks Japanese, here's some small FIY! - "Arisu" is pronounced almost like "Alice" except in 3 syllables and with a r sound in it (instead of 2 syllables and with l). Pronounced "ah-ri-su." Although the r in the word is more like a mix between r and l because Japanese have difficulty saying l's lol.

if you don't mind the look, stacked acrylic arisu's go for pretty cheap. I picked up a hotswap one for $150. Though now that I love it, I have the pain of trying to find a higher end board with the same/similar layout
