That's so great!! 🥳 I'm glad you're picking up on it so quickly and don't worry - the transitions will sound better and get faster with some daily practice. 💪 Thanks so much for watching my videos and learning guitar with me! 🎸🎶💕

Excellent drill! Was having trouble with this strumming pattern at 50-60bpm, but with this video was able to follow along up to 110bpm on the first try! Now to go back to the other video and try it with chord changes

Awesome! 🥳 I'm glad it was helpful and now adding those chord transitions back in should feel much easier. 🤗 Thanks for watching and practicing with me! 🎸

That Is a common rythum for a beginner to feel.. knowing how many beats each chord receives is as important as the strum.

Totally. 🙌 So much of playing guitar comes down to understanding how to count and keep a rhythm, so hopefully this video helps the beginners with that! 🙌 Thanks for watching! 🤗

So excited for this series. What an absolute blast Ellen !!!! This is one of my first strum patterns I learned.

Thanks Isa! 🥰 Yes, it's a common first strum pattern for a lot of beginners which is why I wanted to start with it for this series! 🙌 After I build up some of these 8th note patterns, I'll start making Practice With Me videos for 16th note patterns too! 💪

Not sure why this comes after episode 4 in the beginner playlist. Also, the metronome on aifasttune can help here. For example for the final 100 bpm version of this strumming pattern you can change the metronome to 8/4 and double the bpm to 200. Then you do the pattern of "3 0 3 1 0 1 3 1". The louder 3 tone of course being the down and the lighter 1 tone the up strum. I struggled with the actual silent strumming as it felt like way too many motions to keep track of in my brain, but the audible pattern of this made it pretty easy for me to memorize. Not sure if that's a bad way to learn strumming patterns, but I'm not sure I'd be able to do it otherwise.

I agree that the silent strumming thing messed me up, too hard on my brain but once I internalized the pattern it was easy to memorize.

A lot of people will refer to this pattern as "the island strum" (at least when it comes to ukulele 🤗)
