Are you ready for mushroom hunting season?
Foraging for wild edibles can be great fun and it's a brilliant way to get the whole family active outdoors.
However, positive identification of safe edible species is vitally important, so start slow and let your knowledge grow.
In this video I'm talking about hunting or foraging for wild edible food, mushrooms in particular. I packed my Karrimor SF Sabre 30 with my stove and Stabilotherm pan, grated my foraging basket, and headed off to an area of ancient woodland.
The video was made just a little before peak mushroom picking or mushroom foraging season here in the UK and after quite a long dry spell fungi were most definitely not in abundance, but I did manage to 'forage' enough to have a delicious 'bushcraft breakfast cooked on a firebox stove in the woods.
