The leaves cook up beautifully in a sauté with butter, the corms roast delectably with oil and salt.

*raises hand* I like Trout Lily leaves... :-) That being said, I only eat a few leaves here and there. The corms are delicious, but for convenience, the above-ground runners at the end of the season are my favorite. They have a bean-sprout consistency (nice and crunchy). Have you had those? If so, how does the flavor compare (for you)?

Sarah does't often respond here but she says she likes them almost as much as the corms and way more than the leaves. Thanks for watching!

@@ROOTSSchoolVT Thank you, but I guess I'll have to look around more.

@@magoolew5131 i see them growing along swampy river banks , alongside the very noticeable skunk cabbage - right now in fact , just as the lovely lady here said , just before the tree leaves grow , and block out that precious sunlight ... - I'm in maine just tasting the roots and leaves for the 1st time , reminds me of the wild indian cumber root ...

I wish I could teach cats to not kill all the native fauna.
