Top 3 best season of anime of all time. It's so sad to think Thorfinn wants to go to Vinland(=America) to create a peaceful place when we all know what ended up happening to natives and black people because of colonization. There is truly no peaceful place on earth, humans will always find a way to destroy it.

But that was during Christopher Columbus's time. Though this draws from real life, I think it's still commendable to even attempt to do this. The Vikings (led by the actual Thorfinn Karlsefni based on historical accounts) didn't go to Vinland with the same violence as the later ones, even if (spoilers ahead) . . . . . . . . Real-life Thorfinn's expedition ended up in failure regardless of what his intentions might have been.

well that started like 400 years after Thorfinn's settlement in Vinland so the European colonization really has nothing to do with the Norse attempts to settle the land, and he actually failed in real life so unfortunately that seems to be what will happen in the series too

This episode would've been perfect and one of the most emotional things I've seen if it wasn't for the shitty gags with Ylva, which killed the mood. Still a great episode overall.

The point was to begin diffusing from heavy tensions, there was only a single fully fledged gag with the galaxy punch- the rest were just her not believing the random grown adult claiming to be her brother. This point in the manga was the turning away from the darker aspects and more towards the light, which made a lot of people who just wanted 24/7 edge angry, but the series will still have its dark and heavy handed moments when the time calls for it

No that was fine, it makes sense she wouldn't believe this random guy is her brother, it's been 16 fucking years and he dissapeared from them when he was 6 not as an adult so it's perfectly believable that someone like Ylva wouldn't just believe this is her real brother.
