Trying to be neutral here but I think her argument hinges on a "technical" issue, I believe she is saying that since the blade was retracted and safe it wasn't in the form of a "deadly weapon" and therefore under that state's law couldn't be considered a threat. I can see that in some cases that something that could be used as a weapon that isn't shouldn't be seen as one on the face of it but in this case I think her argument is flawed, to me this is like pointing an unloaded gun at someone, just because it's unloaded doesn't make it less threating if the person on the receiving end doesn't know it's unloaded it's still a gun, likewise just because the knife is retracted doesn't make the boxcutter less threating when you know with just a flick of your finger the blade extends. This might be a case where she was forced by poorly written state law to make the decision she did or she could just be a moron it's hard to tell on such little information.

The Judges decision was correct in that case. Howley was trying to paint a nefarious picture with the facts of that case, blowing them up into something they where not. The Dad in that case was trying to use a small thing, to paint the mothers boyfriend as a "monster", in a custody case. Then him trying to tie this specific case to a later case in which the man actually did commit an act of violence, is dishonest, and he knows it. I commend Howley for the most part. He IS a blessing, and we should be thankful for a man of his character to be in the Senate acting as a "guard at the gate", keeping these activists out of the Federal Judiciary, but he needs to stop using hyperbole to do so. And this is why you need to dig deeper, and not just automatically take the word of someone whom you agree with. Howley, whom I support, was being disingenuous in his narrative he painted with the facts of that case. The "box cutter" in that case was NOT a "box cutter", as we all know them. It was a "paint scraper" with a flat razor blade. The blade was retracted into the scraper, rendering it completely harmless. The comment the man made to the kid was literally the same type of comment any of us make to a kid, when acting like a monster from a movie. This scenario was completely blown out of proportion by the childs father in order to get a leg up in a child custody case. The man was not actually threatening to kill the child, he was playing/teasing with the child. The Judge was correct in her ruling. This is a COMMON tactic by parents in child custody cases. Him trying to use this innocent behavior as a "red flag" for his later act of violence is nonsense. Its dishonest. Howley did not have to take this route, as there are a plethora of cases this insane Judge was apart of in which he could have hammered her for her decisions, and not had to be hyperbolic, or outright mischaracterize the facts of the case. Remember, Howley is on one side. We on "the right" are not immune to painting narratives to play to our own biases. You cant just take what people say at face value, even when you support those people. It leads to bad decisions on your own part. You where led by Howley to feel a specific way about a case you know nothing about. You need to understand how dangerous that is. Again, I SUPPORT Howley. He does great work, but that does not mean he can do no wrong, and it does not mean you should take every word that comes out of his mouth as gospel. You have to be cognisant of your own bias, and remember to find the facts yourself, so you arent led to the wrong conclusion.

I'm chasing my 3 year old around pretending to be a monster that will eat his liver (to his amusement for better or worse) but that is hardly a ground for an assault. Traumatizing, likely, but evidencing that this actually meant harm makes no sense. He made his case in point in the first part, that tangent to criminal cases was unnecessary and detracted from objective evaluation for sure. Trump was told by the oath of office each they were bound to support and defend the Constitution against all enemies both foreignand domestic. Instead Trump called upon paramilitary with peaceful protests. In the presidential debate he lied about taking a test for CoVid. He told the paramilitary to stand down and stand by. This is not the way the Commander-in-Chief is supposed to behave. He created domestic terrorism. Racist and anti-Semitic murders were up 300% during his term. He did not care as Trump is a well-known racist in his business and once in office.

However I can not forget what the Obama administration and Clinton election committee did to misdirect the narrative in this country to absolute false information that was pounced by the legacy media. Therefore I am waiting until the detailed studies come out before I decide who did and did not think they were overturning an election. Further I seem to recall Al Gore trying to overturn an election. At that time I felt it was the beginning of a slippery slope. But perhaps you're too young to know what a dimpled Chad is.

@@drperkins6668 Yeah two big differences 1. Gores election was almost tied. Just a few hundred votes in Florida wouldve changed the outcome (much closer the Trump). 2. Gore conceded when the Supreme Court ruled against him and encouraged the country to come together. He also presided as VP over the January 6th 2001 counting of electoral votes and declared Bush the winner. So Trump and Hawley's behavior is not comparable.
