You could be anyone. This isn’t hard. No idea how this thought process is still out there. Incredibly radical. If you’re 21, you have the right to drink alcohol based on law. You have to prove that with Id. These rules and laws are all across our daily lives, from opening bank accounts to renting a car. The idea of blanket entitlement is outrageously stupid…the only way it could get worse is when as a citizen you KNOW the law/rule, fail to abide by it, and then think you should still be able to do whatever you want…as the example you gave lays out. No accountability, no self-responsibility, views like the one you shared actually make the argument for the other side. If you know the law requires voter id and then you go to vote without your id, no one is infringing on your rights…you are not following the law. The U.S. Census should be accounting for U.S. Citizens. As I understand it, that is one of the primary reasons for having the U.S. Census done.

The constitutional purpose of the census is to ensure proper balance of representation for the legislative branch and EC electors. Non citizens should not and must not have any influence in the count as they are banned from federal elections and by their very definition are NOT citizens…

In the past, the Census counted every single person, regardless. I do genealogy work and know what was on the forms back then. They asked for immigration year if the person was born in another country. They asked for naturalization year if they had become citizens. There were many people listed who were immigrants, but not yet citizens. That doesn't mean that the non-citizens were used to fix the number of representatives. It just means that there was a tally of them.

The census counts people, regardless of citizenship. The data from the census is used to determine what roads are being used & by how many people. This helps determine if new roads need to be constructed. It counts people because citizenship doesn't matter when the census is used to appropriate money to local governments for roads, fire safety, public libraries, police departments, etc.

The US Census used to note whether someone was an immigrant, when they came into the US, and if they had been naturalized and when. That should still be asked today. It wasn't a problem over 100 years ago.
