Ok, now do a demonstration for knife against unarmed taking place inside a public toilet stall. Not being funny, I survived that very scenario.
Wonderful to see how they're both learning from each other and how excited they are about discovering new things.

As I am a old kung-fu teacher and I also practiced Aikido in japan and Taiwan, I really appreciate your great talent as a martial artist. Your state of mind is an example for the new generation of practitioners. Intelligence and humility. With all my respect for your work. Hervé from France
I had to watch this again! I have practiced shotokan, ju-jitsu and shorinji kempo but this is absolutely amazing! Very precise and effective techniques, much respect to all of you guys! Thanks & Best greetings from Hungary!

I love the true humility and mastery shown here. Something that needs to happen here in the states. People are so concerned with "what's the best martial art?" Not realizing they all contain the same principles and once you understand said principles, you WILL change the art because of temperament AND body differences.

So true and well said BushiKage NinRyu. I have noticed very similar principles being applied across the board between various martial arts and boxing/wrestling. While the principle is pretty much the same the name is different eg Wing chun Pak sao and trapping and boxer's parry and trapping is very similar. Aikido seems to have some very impressive techniques.

A big part of humility is accepting change when improvement evidences itself. Martial arts aside, the concept of tradition in general is not good at this. Fighters don't take issue with traditional material arts, Lyoto Machida is an example of this, fighters take issue with systems claiming to be what it is not. Claiming to be effective may well have been true at one point, but the standards have shifted over time. Lack of development will always result in a lack of success. Sort of like if Robin Hood, the greatest archer of all time became faced with a Glock 17 with only half a magazine filled. I know where my money is placed. Was Robin Hood effective 200 years ago? Undoubtedly. Now? Hmmm, he has good aim, maybe change his weapon and see how he does?

@John M. Wouldn't MMA pretty much take care of that? They tend to focus on these 3 areas that are lacking in traditional MA.
The lifetime passion from all is very apparent. Studied Aikido "for a minute"😁 but could not continue so I use videos to add to my self defense repertoire. Really love the videos and everyone involved.
It is rare that I post on such sites: I am pleased to have found your channel. I have studied since 71, I am a ghetto street boy. Aikido is underrated for its use on the streets. So, for me it is Jeet, Aikido I take to the streets. Hear me out: Both combined make a street kid impossible to control - rather, he/she will with confidence find where Jeet pays the price for getting in close, and Aikido controls. I have the experience to say this with confidence. I am much older now yet still active and have had the privilege of training half my age students from scratch to defenders. Philology a side, this combo gets us there quicker. As I am retired now, I will be sharing this channel with those I have shared skills with. Respect and thanks from Canada

My absolute respect to these guys, the Japanese culture and the way how they respect each other
Respect how much these two experts go back and forth on discussing how similar their techniques are. It’s funny also bc they are having fun at what they love doing.
Interesting. I mean I understand pretty well, I know lot of people hate on akido , but many of those people along with many practicing it don't actually understand it themselves, particularly they don't understand the uses of relaxation and the inner or "soft" power of martial arts. But with an understanding of those akido can actually be used/adapted pretty effectively.
I don’t have a clue what they are saying half the time. Yet they are so happy and infectious they are a joy to watch. This is what I love people showing what makes them happy.

"I want to receive your technique." The genuine humility and eagerness in that statement!! And their playfulness is infectious, I would have gladly volunteered to be to be thrown just to partake in that joyous romping.
so great to see modern combat applications of Aikido ; and Daito Ryu. So glad I choose this art, Daito Ryu, with enough work \ practice the waza(s) can be applied to modern situations. Thanks for sharing.

I had to watch this twice, the first time around I was completely distracted by the fact that all the posters, flags, books and other background stuff was written in English. Once I got over that I was delighted to see the wonderful cooperation and sharing that went on. Well done

Thanks you for your work and effort very much appreciated with the upmost of respect I want to be very honest I trained judo and Jujutsu from age 6 . My father taught unarmed combat in the military bases on boxing and jujitsu. I trained later in Aikijujutsu and with Hatsumi Sensi In the early days of bujinkan I say all this so you understand that my opinion is not rude uneducated. I taught prison guards who worked in a super maximum security prison. And worked security in very rough night clubs in Canada . This experience is where my reality check came into play on the way many budo schools train today. The technique that are being taught will very very rarely work against a non cooperative attacker . The gun disarms shown are very dangerous. Against a bigger attacker no chance these will work. Leg scissors are very difficult to pull off in competition and are so very dangerous in a real situation no matter how skilled you are . The application should be trained a against fully resistant attackers to stress test and far more strikes need to be incorporated. Real combat martial arts need to be trained in a realistic way. Some real impact softening of the attacker and with firearms disarms maximum economic movement and total control of the firearms muzzle is required. This reminds me of rebranded “bujinkan” technique with some very risky leg scissors thrown in . I can guarantee that none of that would work against me if I was not allowing it to be done . Real attackers don’t stand there and let you do this they move and resist . Padded head chest and groin protection need to be used to practice real combat martial arts stress test everything if you tell students they can protect there life with a system .

Hell yeah ,Took the words right out of my mind. I believe and know (from real life) that SELF AWARENESS-360 degrees DISPLACEMENT , OBSERVATION and ADAPTATION are the best kung fu/wushu teachers one could ever have. Without ever taking one class. Case and point =if you always getting hit in the face your (rocked) /point of no return/ is extended to where you can take MORE DAMAGE to the head than your normal joe. (some develop an infamous Leatherface) I believe in (natural) fighting...like humping your back and raising your fist and bending the knee to overshadow the tip of you toes... automatically puts your mind in fight mode. Some call it the C-stance A kung fu pose pretty much tells your attacker (who knows how to read /body/feet) what you can and will do. Except for that damn BJJ ,lol I think fighting is a game of (wits) ..which makes MMA obsolete for street fighting. And makes ALL martial arts kind of null and void, why. Because the human body is a muther fucker. (in short) And Bar fights should be a ritual trial to reach Manhood for every boy , youngster and teen. Not to learn how to fight.....but learn what it feels like to get HIT !!!!.....(hard !!) Only then can one see if one is fight or flight material . LIke a military man once told me : "Cull the weak".

Imagine all this applied in splitt of seconds. It will surprise anyone. Of course will be variables like size/power and knowledge of the technical moves. In the end all matters, that's why we see same size fighters winning over opponents. Knowing more moves and how to apply them will give a bigger chances to win
@OldBadger12 жыл бұрын
Correct. I have studied different arts. All the techniques that I have adopted have to work under pressure for me. What I see here would have little use in a real fight. Check out Urban Combatives for a real world lesson
