Holy bananas! This is game is not for everyone but it ticks SO MANY boxes for me. It's way crunchier than ppl think too. Which I like. I did not know that chainmail was weaker against stab/poke and I'm not sure I agree with it. And I was practically yelling at the screen, "You've got a helm on! Helms save you from that crit!" But then I looked it up and found I was very wrong. Not only does it NOT save from that crit it only 'might' save from one other one (depending on table). And even then you gotta get lucky with the gear die. 'Lucky' might be OP but it was perfect here! For the sake of rounding out my rep as 'that guy', I think you missed a couple of things. (didn't hurt the narrative!) Monsters (skeletons in this case) don't lose STR towards their attacks, it's just number to track "HP". (I get the sense you've been at this game for a bit and know these things but it's just stuff I notice and can't keep to myself 😬) I know that's what the book says at least, but I'm doubting myself a bit since Undead don't have special monster attacks like most other monsters. [shrug] Also, were you adding the weapon damage for initial attacks? IE. a broadsword does two damage on the first strike. It felt like some of the later hits weren't hitting like they should...? Really enjoy these and please ignore the 'that guy' part. Cheers. PS Ordered one of those pencils!

Hey awesome! No worries on being "that guy." LOL. I appreciate the conversation! :-) Regarding skeletons and Monsters in combat/ STR rule- I'm using the text on pg 123 in GM's guide as my reasoning for treating skeletons as a "typical fighter." The rules for monsters in combat don't apply to undead... and that's where I'm basing the damage to STR affecting attack dmg. There might be some threads on Free League's website regarding this (I'll dig and see). And yes, the broadsword does 2 damage usually, but the skeletons have a "Rusty broadsword." So I counted it as a bit degraded (only offering 1 damage). :-) And I think one time I forgot to count Rustbite's 2 dmg on the first dice, but it was a killing blow so it didn't cost me. And yes! I always miss something in the middle of combat, and forget something... LOL. Especially when I was recording this one! I got nervous, and certainly didn't maximize my PCs potential! (I always think of stuff I should have done the next day). *Shove fast action/ Feint fast action/ Cast paralyze until I'm out of WP points... What was I even saving WP for?!?! LOL! Really appreciate you watching and enjoying the vid! (And I hope you enjoy that pencil!)

Such a tense combat!!!....oh yes!Great to watch, hope you're not exhausted too much!...amazing!, wish you good healing to your characters, I'm still building my first few ones and it's already enjoyable; and so it is to watch your videos....all my family know that you almost lose your main character! The very first time I played Forbidden Lands was with a group and I had a wolfkin (hunter, I think). The very first session our party went spelunking and we heard a loud roar in the cave. I failed the fear roll and ended up having to roll on the horror critical injuries table. I rolled a 66. My wolfkin literally died of a heart attack caused by fear in the first session.

In that same short campaign we also had a character (the sorcerer) break his neck from fumbling a roll that had to do with either a minor encounter or making camp. It's been a few years so the details are hazy, but it was definitely from something that minor and ridiculous.

Really cool video, thanks for sharing! That said, were there any tactical choices which could have been translated into mechanical advantages to mitigate such scenarios? I'm a wargamer who has been playing RPGs for decades and I always try to live by the philosophy of never offering my enemies a fair fight. Could that skeleton have been neutralized or disabled somehow? Trapped or incapacitated without letting it bring about so much harm? I'm still learning FL, so I apologize if my concern/ fretting is without merit.

Yes, thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. And absolutely yes to your questions. :-) I don't have a tactical gamer background at all, and usually think of great actions/ moves I should have used LONG AFTER it's all over! LOL! Regarding neutralizing or disabling the skeleton(s)... I'm thinking I should have cast paralyze at least one more time. (I had WP points... so use them, right?!) Then they wouldn't get to attack as often. Another thought would have been to use the "shove" fast action. Knock em down, then attack with a +2 melee bonus. And, they have to spend a fast action to stand back up. Also- the feint action to swap initiative spots with an enemy sometimes could be handy. I end up forgetting lots of stuff in the middle of combat, especially when I'm running it solo, and the camera is recording! LOL. I certainly could have handled those enemies better!

As a former soldier I'm notorious in my groups and solo games to leverage advantages to the point of combat becoming a foregone conclusion, so I'm curious to see how FL tolerates my methods.
