This adaptation is good, but would have benefitted from being 15-30 minutes longer. Also, if we had been given more insight into Constance. Too often her love towards Olivers looks more like a reaction to her hubby rather than outright love for Oliver. (Also, it should have kept the context of Oliver's wife mistreating him -- not the cheating on him -- which is why he's so grumpy towards Constance at first.)

Even in the book I couldn't fathom what caused her attraction to Mellors. She barely knew anything about him, they barely spoke, there was no mention of her finding him physically attractive either. N then he tells her to lie on thefloor after seeing her cry... n humps her while she lies there not moving. Honestly I didnt see the appeal in the book, it all seemed rather disturbing and unhealthy

@@TJ-Judge It is DH Lawrence's anthropocentric view of women. He is promoting the idea that we all like men to be dominant and controlling. In the 1993 version, she keeps hanging around the hut. When they are close together looking at the pheasant chicks, he makes a move and she runs away. But the next day she is back again and Mellors shows concern for her reputation and his own emotional well-being.

@@chriswatson1698 I read the book and it was over the top creepy and disturbing. I mean I like a take charge man but this book takes dominant to a very creepy grotesque level. And all the terribly bad sex🤦🏻‍♀️😩🤣 I felt so bad for her... she keeps have unsatisfying sex with him for god knows what reason.. and then he get angry and insults her if she tries to make it satisfying for herself🤦🏻‍♀️ I guess she is mentally controlled by him.. Im guessing that is the gist. But ugh.... was very depressing to read

Dammit BBC, why do you refuse to release this brilliant-looking 2015 adaptation of Lady Chatterly's Lover here in The US? No DVD release nor do you allow it to be featured in any streaming services like BritBox & Acorn TV either. WTF. I want to see this so bad. I've been a huge fan of Richard Madden ever since Game of Thrones, Holiday Grainger is amazing in everything she's been in and I miss seeing Sydney in Grantchester.

In the book, Sir Clifford refuses to have the car pushed, and is extremely obstinate about it. He has Mellors lift the car, as it is stuck. Mellows having had pneumonia, is exhausted by the effort, but Clifford doesn't care. Mellors is his peasant servant, so nothing to him. This portrayal is incorrect.

Not a faithful adaption. Barely scratched the surface of one of the main themes of the book, which is the conflict between the industrial Britain of the 1920s and it effect on people, and the ancient, earthy and sensual pagan Britain of old. Still an enjoyable film mind, just not the story Lawrence was trying to tell

She was jealous of the maid because of the intimacy the maid got with her husband, giving him baths, being there with him while he was in pain etc, something that she wasn't receiving from him, he just wouldn't confide in her, which is one of the reasons why she took an interest in Oliver. Her husband had basically given up on being intimate with her, Connie explained to him that there were things they could do, and there are things he could do to her, but he pushed her away saying he was "too tired". She just wanted to feel wanted, loved and to be touched by someone, only natural, her husband had forgotten about her needs, because he no longer had any of his own.. in a way he was a bit selfish for that. Not forgetting, he was planning to set her up with someone, to sleep with so that they, correction 'he' could have an heir, without even discussing it with her first ? It is a love story, she fell in and out of love with her husband, and fell in love with another man.This stuff happens, love stories aren't always moral or good, and they don't have to have those embodiment's to be considered a love story, just saying.
