Easily, the scariest game I've ever played. I've not played a game since that has had such an oppressive, bleak, hostile and downright nauseating atmosphere. Deserves just as much praise as the Silent Hill series. Maybe more.

Giving Siren a little too much credit here but its easy to see why it never took off in the same way Silent Hill ever did. Its atmosphere is top notch and the masterful direction by Keiichiro Toyama is excellent in the way that the game is able to immerse the player in rundown Japanese village that wants to kill you and by proxy of the environment will eventually make you become just like the Shibito walking around wanting to 'pick your brains' What holds Siren back is mostly its clunky as all hell gameplay, obtuse mission structure and a majority of the cast taking away the focus from what should've mainly been focused on the Kajiro family ritual while exploring the town through Kyoya's eyes. Not to mention how segregated the series feels as a whole considering the few ties Forbidden Siren 2 has to its predecessor and Siren Blood Curse being a flat out reimagining of the first game. Decent horror series though, just wish the concepts were better executed.

Yeah, my friend and I really love Siren 1 and we both agreed that we would probably never see another game like it ever again. The game was just too raw and experimental, it turned alot of people off even when it came out, so just trying to imagine a game like it being made in the current modern landscape sounds impossible. Blood Curse was what we got when they dumbed down the gameplay and narrative to be more accessible to casuals . Even Siren 2 was way easier when compared to the first one, like Toyamas team had a knee jerk reaction to everyone that bitched about how hard Siren 1 was, so they dumbed it down and made it more hand-holdy with the hints and constant sub-objectives pointers and made it way more actiony with all the guns and weapons. also the characters and story in 2 wasn't nearly as complex or compelling as the first one. The original Siren didn't fuck around wit no pussy bitch players tho. That shit wuz ballz to the wallz hard. for troo gamers. unforgiving gameplay that required you to carefully plan out your every move and stuff like the map not showing you where you were so you were left on your own to figure out where you were by surrounding landmarks and shit, as well as the super mega cryptic puzzles, that shit really made you feel the sense of helplessness that the game was trying to convey, of just ordinary people stuck, powerless to fight and comprehend this crazy Lovecraftian force they got swept up in. The story unfolds like this twisted fairy tale, that just keeps getting crazier. You got to have godlike patience and commitment to beat Siren, but the story alone makes it worth it in the end. Siren 1 really is one of the most underappreciated horror games imo. Shits like the ultimate in interactive cosmic horror. Straight masterpiece son.

I remember playing this classic PS2 game for the first time on Sony PS4 in October 2017. It's definitely the creepiest Japanese horror video game I have ever played and that school is definitely the creepiest place I have ever visited as well. It was alright for myself but I never finished it because I remember I was stuck in the forest/cemetery level with the teacher and her pupil and I did not know where I should go. It can be a very hard game. Anyway I know this game is called Forbidden Siren in Europe (including the UK and my home country Ireland), Australia and New Zealand while it is called Siren in Japan, the USA and Canada.

Siren 1 and 2 are definitely the scariest games I've ever played, and missions in this fucking mines made me turn off game. English dubbing is terible in FS 1, search for japanese version for much better experience. FS 2 has japanese voiceover, as good as FS 1.

@@danielprogames1928 I tested Forbidden Siren, great game!, but the story is hard to follow, and it´s not for everyone, take your time if you ever play it. About Silent Hill, i played all of them except Downpour (never catched my attention), my favorites are 1 and 4: The Room, i really love Harry Mason and Henry Townshend along with the villain, Walter Sullivan!, (that´s why i have him in my profile pic XD). But you will love also Silent Hill 3, trust me, it´s the hell scary and it´s the direct sequel of Silent Hill 1, Silent Hill 2 however is the prequel of Silent Hill 4, and it´s considered the best one in the series. You have now 2 options: 1º Play Silent Hill 1 using a PlayStation 1 emulator, because it´s the first entry in the series, and you will enjoy Silent Hill 3 more. 2º Play Silent Hill 2 because it´s the prequel of Silent Hill 4, and as i´ve said, it´s considered the best one in the series, i recommend you to play it using PCSX2, the emulator of PS2. Finally, if you can, give a try to Silent Hill Origins, it´s the prequel of Silent Hill 1, play it only, when you finished Silent Hill 1 to 4.

Playing this God Game on 2022, im having a very good experience and enjoy it a lot. i have to use guides on certain points, Playing on Pcsx2 1.7, last build with openGl 4k resolution. Some day stages have bad rendering issues, a Pnatch code remove the fog effect and fixed that.

No, you need to do everything 100% in order to proceed to next level otherwise you have to restart it. There's no indicator's or anything on how to do in the game. You need to spend a month to finish the game without guides. I don't understand people who can still say this game is good after all this.

the game is famous for being designed to be done via cooperation, people were supposed to use guides and discuss the game to learn more about it. While it has unmatched atmosphere the gameplay is incredibly hard, absolutely worth a look but be prepared to use walkthroughs, you'll need them
