Forcados are a group of eight men in Portuguese bullfighting who perform the pega, which is the traditional way of subduing the bull. The pega involves the forcados challenging the bull head-on, without the use of any weapons or capes, and attempting to grab the bull by its head and bring it to a stop. Once the bull has been stopped, the forcados work together to immobilize it by holding onto its horns and body, using their strength and weight to bring the bull to the ground.
The pega is considered one of the most dangerous parts of a Portuguese bullfight, as the forcados are not protected by any armor or padding, and must rely solely on their skill and teamwork to subdue the bull. Successful performances by the forcados are often met with enthusiastic applause from the crowd, and the group is usually awarded a prize for their bravery and skill.
